Philippians 3: 12-14

Philippians

I don't mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection!  But I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ Jesus saved me for and wants me to be.  No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing:  Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven.

Thoughts....

On Aug 6th, my Mom would have been 100 years old.  Unfortunately she died when she was 52, a week before my 21rst birthday.

I still count her birthdays and plan spending time on her birthday doing things she and I might have done together were she still alive. 

This year those plans didn't come to fruition the way I'd hoped.  But I did realize we just never know what will cause our last breath, or when that will occur.  Though I've KNOWN this, I FELT it this time around - emotionally, physically and spiritually.

I'm a proactive kind of gal usually.  However, I may make elaborate plans and not follow through as planned for whatever reason.  I am only human after all, for which I do ask forgiveness....and yes, for my humanness that stalls the plans, God given or human planned, that prevent me from reaching the prize of eternal life.

So, although my plans entail being proactive about health and wellness, as much as possible. among other things, I'm also going to make more or a concerted effort to ensure I reach the prize - eternal life. 

In John 15, Jesus tells us remain in him.  "Remain in my love.", he said.  And he tells us how to do that.  

In faith....Believe in him, accept him, receive him, listen to him, obey him, remain in his love, so you, too, can reach the prize of eternal life.   

Let Us Pray

God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Forgive me of my sins, that I may be a cleansed vessel by which you can live and work in, and through.  Continue to teach me your ways. Lead me, guide me, direct me along the path of righteousness.  Help me to receive all you have to show me, share with me, give me.  Take me to that place in my life that will instill your peace that passes all understanding, so that I can comfortably, without failure....or much anyway....hear you and obey you, so to enable me to remain in your love.  I want to reach the prize of eternal life.  I want to be able to see those who have gone before me whom I love and miss dearly.  I know they are with you, I pray to go there....to heaven....someday, too.  But not too soon!  Just sayin'.  Thanks for listening to me.  And I pray this for those around me, as well.  I praise you.  I thank you.  I love you.   Amen.

When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.  And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.  May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now glory be to God!  By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.  May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages.  Amen.  Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT

  Our Continual Cause

It is time to reach into the community and the world around you to see wherein lies the greatest need.  As you choose to focus on these areas, do so with a servant's heart.  Whether the need is for children, adults, animals, the earth, or any cause in between that will help those in need, ask God how you can best serve his needs, what path you must take, and how long you should persevere.  Sometimes we are to be in the lives of others merely as stepping stones.  Sometimes we are to touch those lives forever.  Whatever journey you are called to take, whatever team you will be a member, know this:  God is with you always...even til the end of time.  He loves you, is grateful for you, and will help you along life's way, especially if you are helping others along theirs, persevering with a servant's heart.

'The Unforced Rhythms of Grace'

"Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer:  "Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth.  You've concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people.  Yes, Father, that's the way you like to work."

Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly.  "The Father has given me all these things to do and say.  This is a unique Father - Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge.  No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does.  But I'm not keeping it to myself; I'm ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen."
