Worship His Majesty....With Reverence

Luke 4:8

Jesus replied, "The Scriptures say, 'You must worship the Lord your God; serve only him."

Thoughts....

When I was a little girl....even beyond that in years, when I walked into church, I did so with reverence.  I still do.  I was taught that the sanctuary was indeed just that, a place to find sanctuary, and a revered place to worship the LORD our God, Jesus, Holy Spirit.

We entered in silence and reverence, bowed at the altar of The Living God, and silence was kept until such time as we broke into the first song of worship known by the hymn page listed on the board by the altar.

Until the time we broke into song, heads were bowed or were fixed on the cross, or watching the candles being lit on the altar, while being focused on prayers of forgiveness for sins that we might be an empty vessel to receive all he had (has) to give, in thanksgiving for what had occurred the previous week, and all the LORD God, Jesus, Holy Spirit had done for us, in worshipful prayer, giving them honor and glory and praise.

The whole service was worshipful, reverent, and, at times, although joy was present in humble praise, we would worship with song of praise.

So, what is worship?  Per 'bing', it is 'the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity' - noun, and, done to 'show reverence and adoration for (a deity); honor with religious rites' - verb.

What is reverence?  Per 'bing', 'deep respect for someone or something' - noun, and, 'regard or treat with deep respect' - verb.

Today, many folks either don't go to church - defined as a physical 'brick and mortar' building, nor do many go online on a regular basis to enjoin with others wanting to learn, be fed....worship The LORD God, Jesus, Holy Spirit.  And WE are all guilty.  Myself included.  After all, you have experienced visiting this site and not having current 'Thoughts'.  There have been times I have neglected worship just like you.  I am grateful God forgives, but we....WE... must NOT try his patience, and we slip a notch in the process.  Is your tree getting too thin from pruning....?  I'm quite sure mine is....and it grieves me deeply.

But there are some that do go to church and revere, and worship.  And there are some that treat church like a party.  Beware!

Hebrews 10:25 reads, 'And let us not neglect our meeting together as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near.'

Hebrews 12:28 reads, 'Since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be destroyed, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.  For our God is a consuming fire.'

Note here what Jesus said in John 15:16, "Anyone who parts from me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers.  Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned."  You might want to read all of John 15.  Just sayin'.

So, as you go through your week, think about all the reasons why you are not in church, not going online, or not to the TV, or not listening to the radio, or not seeking him in your home, not reaching for him from your heart....however you are able to worship....and see if those reasons are valid in comparison to receiving life everlasting....as a result of worshiping His Majesty and to all God, Jesus, Holy Spirit call us.

Are you not 'there' because you don't like how the church is run?  What is being interpreted?  Others?  Selfish?  You are not there for others.  Surely you can give a little of yourself, since God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, have done so much for you, and are willing to give you eternal life.  If you don't like how the church is run, or how something is being interpreted, you have a responsibility to speak up.  Maybe you will teach, maybe you will learn.  Or maybe God is calling you to start a church to do things HIS way, so you can speak by the power of Holy Spirit to enlighten others.  Maybe you just don't want to face God and be convicted of your sins.  Do you really think he does not see you, and know where you are?

I can tell you we ALL fall short, no one is perfect, and, if we are not speaking out, or not taking up the torch to share, or not worshiping with reverence and awe, and not serving only God, we are in trouble of meeting an all consuming fire, rather than being one with Jesus in Heaven.

May we all come together in prayer, to make better choices in all areas of our lives, so we need to ask forgiveness less often, and be able to worship face to face with God, Jesus, Holy Spirit in reverence and awe, serving only God per Jesus' directives, and giving Him all glory and honor.

Paul also said in Hebrews 13:20-21, "And now, may the God of peace, who brought again*** from the dead our Lord Jesus, equip you with all you need for doing his will.  May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, all that is pleasing to him.  Jesus is the great Shepherd of the sheep by an everlasting covenant, signed with his blood.  To him be glory forever and ever.  Amen."  ***(He said, "again".  Have you read the 'Thoughts' that share how often he came back?)

   Let Us Pray

God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, I have work to do to not be consumed by your fire, God, nor Satan's fire.  Help me, please.  I want to enter your presence not just with praise and thanksgiving, but with deep reverence, respect, a worshipful heart, body and mind, giving you my all,  Help me to serve only you. Help me do whatever I need to ensure I do not neglect our meeting together, and that I meet with other Christians to worship you, to ensure I will be welcomed into your kingdom that cannot be destroyed.  And speak up and step up as you call.  And please help all others who love you, and those who do not love you....quite yet.  I thank you.  I love you.  I praise you.  Amen.

Shine Jesus Shine

1987 by Graham Kendrick

Lord, the light of your love is shining / In the midst of the darkness shining;

Jesus, Light of the world, shine upon us

Set us free by the truth you now bring us / Shine on me. Shine on me.

(Refrain)

Shine, Jesus, shine, fill this land with the Father's glory. Blaze, Spirit blaze; set our hearts on fire.

Flow, river flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy.  Send forth your word, Lord, and let there be light.

Lord, I come to  your awesome presence / From the shadows into your radiance;

By the blood I may enter your brightness;

Sear me, try me, consume all my darkness / Shine on me.  Shine on me.

(Refrain)

On Eagle's Wings

Michael Joncas. Its words are based on Psalm 91, Book of Exodus 19, and Gospel of Matthew 13. Joncas wrote the piece in either 1976 or 1979.

You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord / who abide in His shadow for life

Say to the Lord: "My refuge, my Rock in whom I trust."

(Refrain)

And he will raise you up in Eagle's Wings / Bear you on the breath of dawn,

Make you to shine like the sun, / and hold you in the palm of His hand.

The snare of the fowler will never capture you / And famine will bring you no fear.

Under His wings your refuge / His faithfulness your shield.

(Refrain)

You need not fear the terror of the night / Nor the arrow that flies by day.

Though thousands fall about you, / Near you it shall not come

(Refrain)

For to His angels He's given a command / To guard you in all of your ways.

Upon their hands they will bear you up / Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

(Refrain)

 More love....

  Benediction....Blessing

Let us hear from Paul as he prays:

When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.  And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.  May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now glory be to God!  By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.  May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages.  Amen.  Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT

  Our Continual Cause

It is time to reach into the community and the world around you to see wherein lies the greatest need.  As you choose to focus on these areas, do so with a servant's heart.  Whether the need is for children, adults, animals, the earth, or any cause in between that will help those in need, ask God how you can best serve his needs, what path you must take, and how long you should persevere.  Sometimes we are to be in the lives of others merely as stepping stones.  Sometimes we are to touch those lives forever.  Whatever journey you are called to take, whatever team you will be a member, know this:  God is with you always...even til the end of time.  He loves you, is grateful for you, and will help you along life's way, especially if you are helping others along theirs, persevering with a servant's heart.

Please accept my sincerest thanks....and God's....and may God richly bless you !

  One last thing....

Jesus' Prayer of Thanksgiving

'The Unforced Rhythms of Grace'

"Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer:  "Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth.  You've concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people.  Yes, Father, that's the way you like to work."

Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly.  "The Father has given me all these things to do and say.  This is a unique Father - Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge.  No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does.  But I'm not keeping it to myself; I'm ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen."

"Are you tired?  Worn out?  Burned out on religion?  Come to me.  Get away with me and you'll recover your life.  I'll show you how to take a real rest.  Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it.  Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.  I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn how to live freely and lightly.

Matthew 11:  25-30

I now write most prayers in the position of ' I ' (first person) because most people are sitting at their computer alone, not in groups, and it allows those reading and praying to personalize the prayer as coming from them going to God.  Variations may appear on holidays when families may wish to use the prayer provided.  I encourage you to pray your own prayers as well.

NOTE:  I said it long ago, but let me say it again.  If you are wanting to lead a group, start a church, or are confined in an institution, or live in a country where the Gospel is not preached, and you don't know what to say or how to say it, and yet feel led to share, teach, or preach, besides just reading straight out of the Bible and sharing what God puts on your heart, please feel free to share any or all of what I've written, if it will help you, as long as you include where it comes from, due to copyright laws.  Jesus gave God's love and healing freely, as well as his message.  Our responsibility is to get the Word out to those who need to hear it.  If what I've written....by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit....or what he has said through me....has helped you, it may help others that you know.  You are welcome to share it.  God calls all of us to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the world.  Please share it with the fullness of love that God, Jesus, Holy Spirit....and I....have given it.  Amen!
