 Simple Truths

1 John 2:1-6

1 John 

My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin.  But if you do sin, there is someone to plead for you before the Father.  He is Jesus Christ, the one who pleases God completely.  He is the sacrifice for our sins.  He takes away not only our sins but the sins of the world.  

And how can we be sure that we belong to him?  By obeying his commandments.  If someone says, "I belong to God," but doesn't obey God's commandments, that person is a liar and does not live in the truth.  But those who obey God's word really do love him.  That is the way to know whether or not we live in him.  Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Christ did.

Thoughts....

'Dear friends, I am not writing a new commandment, for it is an old one you have always had, right from the beginning. This commandment - to love one another - is the same message you heard before.  Yet it is also new.  This commandment is true in Christ and is true among you, because the darkness is disappearing and the true light is already shining.'   1 John 2:7-8

'Stop loving this evil world and al that it offers you, for when you love the world, you show that you do not have the love of the Father in you.  For the world offers only the lust for physical pleasure, the lust for everything we see, and pride in our possessions.  These are not from the Father.  They are from this evil world.  And this world is fading away; along with everything it craves.  But if you do the will of God, you will live forever. '  1 John 2:15-17

'So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning.  If you do, you will continue to live in fellowship with the Son and with the Father.  And in this fellowship we enjoy the eternal life he promised us.  1 John 2:24-25

'I have written these things to you because you need to be aware of those who want to lead you astray.  But you have received the Holy Spirit [Have you?], and he lives within you, so you don't need anyone to teach you what is true.  For the Spirit teaches you all things, and what he teaches is true - it is not a lie.  So continue in what he has taught you, and continue to live in Christ.

And now, dear children, continue to live in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame.  Since we know that God is always right, we also know that all who do what is right are his children.'  1 John 26-29

'Those who sin are opposed to the law of God, for all sin opposes the law of God.  And you know that Jesus came to take away our sins, for there is no sin in him.  So if we continue to live in him, we won't sin either. But those who keep on sinning have never known him or understood who he is.

Dear children, don't let anyone deceive you about this:  When people do what is right, it is because they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows they belong to the Devil, who has been sinning since the beginning.  But the son of God came to destroy these works of the Devil. Those who have been born into God's family do not sin, because God's life is in them.  So they can't keep on sinning, because they have been born of God.  So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the Devil.  Anyone who does not obey God's commands and does not love other Christians does not belong to God.  1 John 3: 4-10 

Dear children, let us stop just saying we love each other, let us really show it by our actions.  It is by our actions we know we are living in the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before the Lord, even if our hearts condemn us.  For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. 

Dear friends, if our conscience is clear, we can come to God with bold confidence.  And we will receive whatever we request because we obey him and do the things that please him.  And this is his commandment:  We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us.  Those who obey God's commandments live in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Holy Spirit lives in us.   1 John 3:18-24

   Let Us Pray

Father God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, truth can be so evasive, illusive, is absolutely destructive, if not used, heeded, embraced fully, and, lack of it can pervade even the most staunch believers, as we are seeing today politically, and in the religious sectors in the USA especially, and in the world.  Satan has most assuredly pulled the wool over many Christians eyes and is diverting them from THE Truth, THE Word, THE Light.  And even the fruits, Holy Spirit, given by you.  They act as if Donald Trump is their Savior, rather than seeing you, Jesus, as their Savior.  I  know it's nauseating to me to see the flock led astray and lost, I cannot fathom the pain and suffering you are experiencing over seeing the people confused, lost, turning away from you and your teachings God, Jesus, Holy Spirit.  I come to you in sincere earnestness, begging you to help those who are turned upside down spiritually.  I know you gave us free will, freedom of choice, but Lord, God, Holy Spirit, not even a virus causing death, nor hurricanes and flooding causing destruction, nor division in the world, and killing of innocents, divisiveness in families, and more is reaching those who should be praying with you, to you, listening to your counsel and worshiping you.  So much pain has been caused by the lies, the cheating, the evil emitted from our current US President.  So much evil from even previously professing, and those still professing, you, Jesus, but now in such a twisted way it is unrecognizable from who you really are, and all the principles you've instilled.  Help us Lord.  Open the eyes of those turned astray.  Wake them up, shake them up.  Make then stop making life be about their political way or the highway, instead of following Christian based laws with which this country was formed, and the love based principles you've given us.  They've turned their back on you, Father God, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit.  Keep those of us who are continuing to see you, live with you, attempt to go forward righteously, and willing to help others....be safe from the fowler, Satan and his assigns.  Father God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, please, I beg of you, do not let Donald Trump win another election by evil ways again.  Or by any way.  He's telling people to break the law to vote twice for him, as the leader of the USA....he's telling people to come to his evil side.  He's twisting the truth in so many ways.  He's using words to imply he believes in you, even that he might possibly know you, but nothing could be further from the truth as we view the LACK OF and DISREGARD  for Holy Spirit and fruits....gifts given us by Holy Spirit.  He is not Satan incarnate, but he is surely one of his assigns.  Rebuke him, get him out of office, take him to task for all his previous and current evil ways, and, put him in jail where he should be, but wait please, til the election is over and Joe Biden has won, or we'll have to deal with yet another person who once professed you, but lives in opposition to you now in the Vice Presidency, Mike Pence.  However, you and I both know where Donald Trump is heading in the end.  No one can be that purposefully evil and not go to hell.  He has mocked you, Lord.  To your face.  He has mocked all of intelligence in the world.  I heard you say, "Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." Thank you, Lord.  I know I am safe in your arms, as is my family, and other Christians who are seeing this spiritual battle for what it is.  But it's a lonely battle, Lord.  I know you know that battle.  I embrace you in all you're going through, and receive your embrace in return.   I know you are praying for me and the world.  I will pray for you.  I am so sorry you God, Jesus, Holy Spirit are going through all this.  Your pain must be immeasurable.  Forgive me....forgive us....for all our sins.  And thank you, for forgiving me, and all those also in need of such.  Help me, and all in the world, to live YOUR simple truths.  l praise you.  I thank you.  I love you.  Amen.

When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.  And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.  May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now glory be to God!  By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.  May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages.  Amen.  Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT

  Our Continual Cause

It is time to reach into the community and the world around you to see wherein lies the greatest need.  As you choose to focus on these areas, do so with a servant's heart.  Whether the need is for children, adults, animals, the earth, or any cause in between that will help those in need, ask God how you can best serve his needs, what path you must take, and how long you should persevere.  Sometimes we are to be in the lives of others merely as stepping stones.  Sometimes we are to touch those lives forever.  Whatever journey you are called to take, whatever team you will be a member, know this:  God is with you always...even til the end of time.  He loves you, is grateful for you, and will help you along life's way, especially if you are helping others along theirs, persevering with a servant's heart.

'The Unforced Rhythms of Grace'

"Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer:  "Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth.  You've concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people.  Yes, Father, that's the way you like to work."

Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly.  "The Father has given me all these things to do and say.  This is a unique Father - Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge.  No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does.  But I'm not keeping it to myself; I'm ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen."
