Come Together

(In Spirit, prayer, & help - Follow Medical & Scientific guidelines for COVID 19)

Luke 19: 28-40

Luke

….Jesus went on toward Jerusalem, walking ahead of his disciples.  As they came to the towns of Bethpage and Bethany, on the Mount of Olives, he sent two disciples ahead.  "Go into that village over there," he told them, "and as you enter it, you will see a colt tied there that has never been ridden.  Untie it and bring it here.  If anyone asks what you are doing, just say, "The Lord needs it.'"

So they went and found the colt, just as Jesus had said.  And sure enough, as they were untying it, the owners asked them, "Why are you untying our colt?"

And the disciples simply replied, "the Lord needs it."  So they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their garments over it for him to ride on.

Then the crowds spread out their coats on the road ahead of Jesus.  As they reached the place where the road started down from the Mount of Olives, all of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen.

"Bless the King who comes in the name of the Lord!  Peace in heaven and glory in the highest heaven!"

But some of the Pharisees among the crowd said, "Teacher, rebuke your followers for saying things like that!"

He replied, "If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!"

Thoughts....

The stones know him....do you?

Here's the thing....if you don't, you will not enter heaven.  I've said before that I believe my God is the God of the universe.  I believe he is your God, too.  And I believe he is SO large of heart and understanding, that he made a way for all of us to believe in him in all walks of life, in all nationalities, by many names, through many customs and traditions.  So by whatever name God has called your Savior, in whatever language you read your Holy Scriptures, I believe he is the same Savior.  My Savior's name is Jesus.

Do your Holy Scriptures say the following, in one way or another..."For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says, 'The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.'  There is salvation in no one else!  There is no other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save them."  Acts 4:11-12

I am sorry that I do not know your Holy Scriptures.  Truthfully, I barely know the Holy Scriptures given me in English, the Bible I was raised on from youth.  And yet I've been called to preach the Gospel.  My brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus throughout the United States, and the world, seem to have the same dilemma of not knowing the Scriptures.  I know this because they are clearly lost, believing in someone in such opposition to all the Bible stands for, someone so far removed from Galatians 5:22-26.

And I also know this.....we are in perilous times.  In the fullness of my heart, I beg you to look to your Savior, by whatever name God has chosen for you to understand him, in whatever language you read, and lay down your life for him....and yourself.  Accept him into your heart.  And pray to him.  Pray, because we need miracles....throughout the universe.

"For Christ [your Savior's name?] has accomplished the whole purpose of the law.  All who believe in him are made right with God."  Romans 10:4

"For Moses wrote that the Jew's way of making a person right with God requires obedience to all of its commands.  But the way of getting right with God through faith says, "You don't need to go to heaven" (to find Christ and bring him down to help you).  And it says, "You don't need to go to the place of the dead" (to bring Christ back to life again).  Salvation that comes from trusting Christ - which is the message we preach - is already within easy reach.  In fact, the Scriptures say, "The message is close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart."

"For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.  As the Scriptures tell us, "Anyone who believes in him will not be disappointed."  Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect.  They all have the same Lord, who generously gives his riches to all who ask for them. For anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."  Romans 10:5-13

"The message of God's creation has gone out to everyone, and its words to all the world." Romans 10 18b

As we in the world suffer, or watch our loved ones, friends, neighbors, yes, even strangers suffer, it's important that we all get on the same page....and pray to our Savior.  We need miracles, and we need them now.  The world is spinning out of control with a scourge of disease.

'Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will give us later.  For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are.  Against its will, everything on earth was subjected to God's curse.  All creation anticipates the day when it will join God's children in glorious freedom from death and decay.  For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.  And even we Christians, although we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, also groan to be released from pain and suffering.  We, too, wait anxiously for that day when God will give us our full rights as his children, including the new bodies he has promised us.  Now that we are saved, we eagerly look forward to this freedom. For if you already have something, you don't need to hope for it.  But if we look forward to something we don't have yet, we must wait patiently and confidently.

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our distress.  For we don't even know what we should pray for, nor how we should pray.  But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.  And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God's own will.  And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.  For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his son would be the firstborn, with many brothers and sisters.  And having chosen them, he called them to come to him.  And he gave them right standing with himself, and he promised them his glory.

I can think of no better time than now to come together and usher in the Savior to our hearts and to the world.

"But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him?  And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him?  And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?  And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent?  That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

But not everyone welcomes the Good News, for Isaiah the prophet said, "Lord, who has believed our message?"  Yet faith comes from listening to this message of good news - the Good News about Christ.  Romans 10: 14-17

Isaiah spoke boldly for God:  "I was found  by people who were not looking for me.  I showed myself to those who were not asking for me."  Romans 10: 20 / Isaiah 65:1

Will you bring the Good News about Jesus Christ [your Savior's name?] to anyone willing to listen?  God is calling you.  Go.

Consider Jesus singing the following:

Come Together

Written by John Lennon/Paul McCartney

Here come old flat top
He come groovin' up slowly
He got joo joo eyeballs
He one holy roller
He got hair down to his knee
Got to be a joker
He just do what he please

He wear no shoeshine
He got toe jam football
He got monkey finger
He shoot Coca-Cola
He say I know you, you know me
One thing I can tell you is
You got to be free
Come together, right now
Over me

He bad production
He got walrus gumboot
He got Ono sideboard
He one spinal cracker
He got feet down below his knee
Hold you in his armchair
You can feel his disease
Come together, right now
Over me

He roller coaster
He got early warning
He got muddy water
He one Mojo filter
He say one and one and one is three
Got to be good looking
'Cause he's so hard to see
Come together right now
Over me

Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah

Do you think for one minute that Satan and his assigns care who suffers, who they kill?  Do you really believe that God is plucking people out of life right now?  I do not believe this scourge of disease [COVID 19] running through the world is God's doing.  I do believe that somehow, some way, God will make all things right in our hearts of pain and suffering.  Maybe the rightness will be in turning to him, in believing that Jesus death meant that all of us....everyone of us....has the opportunity to be healed and made whole, be that in heaven, as the way was made by Jesus' death and resurrection, or here on earth, first, by becoming one with the Trinity:  God, Jesus, Holy Spirit.

For years now, we've been going our own way.  The people in our homes have become strangers.  We hardly know ourselves.  And we harbor hate for the world.  Stop....harboring hate.  Stop....expressing hatred.  Let go of your bitterness, pain, sorrow....your belief in inequality of persons.   We are all equal in God's eyes.  God, Jesus, Holy Spirit want to heal you.  They want to heal the world.

Perhaps the good in the scourge is that we are all coming together....and some of us are being called to a new home....with God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, to make a place for us when it's our time to join them.   But don't be too hasty to leave, there is a lot of work to be done.  The fields are ripe!  Sow love, sow togetherness, teach the salvation message, know joy and peace, receive the blessings that come with all of that.  And rejoice!  Because if your loved ones have left your arms, you can rest assured they have been in God's, Jesus', Holy Spirit's for total and perfect healing.  Which means they are having a blast, albeit missing you.  But they want you to have a blast, too, and remember the good times, while you are building your mansion in the sky, one timber at a time.

As Jesus was ushered in, people from all over, from all walks of life, came together praising him.  Consider praising him.  Note what Paul and Timothy had to say as noted in Philippians 4:4-9:

"Always be full of joy in the Lord.  I say it again - rejoice!  Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do.  Remember, the Lord is coming soon.

Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything.  Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.  If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.  His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, let me say one more thing as I close this letter.  Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right.  Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable.  Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.  Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and heard from me and saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you."

Be reminded that was Paul and Timothy speaking, not me.  Pretty much I am [way] not perfect, so if you expect that, you are looking in the wrong direction.  Don't look AT people, look UP TO God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, and allow them to show you how they see those who surround you, or are in your path.

Then, look in the mirror.  Look around you.  Turn to your Savior.  And go forth to share who he is, that he is, and how wonderful he is....and all he has to offer!

And PRAY!

Let Us Pray

I pray on this day, when we celebrate the anniversary of Palm Sunday, a day of celebration when Jesus was ushered in to the town and people's hearts, that you will usher him into your hearts today, also.  God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, on behalf of those who are not here in this moment to pray, heal us....all.  I praise you.  I thank you.  I love you.  Amen.

Let us hear from Paul as he prays:

When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.  And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.  May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now glory be to God!  By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.  May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages.  Amen.  Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT

  Our Continual Cause

It is time to reach into the community and the world around you to see wherein lies the greatest need.  As you choose to focus on these areas, do so with a servant's heart.  Whether the need is for children, adults, animals, the earth, or any cause in between that will help those in need, ask God how you can best serve his needs, what path you must take, and how long you should persevere.  Sometimes we are to be in the lives of others merely as stepping stones.  Sometimes we are to touch those lives forever.  Whatever journey you are called to take, whatever team you will be a member, know this:  God is with you always...even til the end of time.  He loves you, is grateful for you, and will help you along life's way, especially if you are helping others along theirs, persevering with a servant's heart.

Please accept my sincerest thanks....and God's....and may God richly bless you !

Jesus' Prayer of Thanksgiving

'The Unforced Rhythms of Grace'

"Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer:  "Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth.  You've concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people.  Yes, Father, that's the way you like to work."

Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly.  "The Father has given me all these things to do and say.  This is a unique Father - Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge.  No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does.  But I'm not keeping it to myself; I'm ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen."

"Are you tired?  Worn out?  Burned out on religion?  Come to me.  Get away with me and you'll recover your life.  I'll show you how to take a real rest.  Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it.  Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.  I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn how to live freely and lightly.

Matthew 11:  25-30

I now write most prayers in the position of ' I ' (first person) because most people are sitting at their computer alone, not in groups, and it allows those reading and praying to personalize the prayer as coming from them going to God.  Variations may appear on holidays when families may wish to use the prayer provided.  I encourage you to pray your own prayers as well.
