Only God Is God 

Acts 14: 8 - 10

Acts 

When the listening crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in their local dialect, "These men are gods in human bodies!"  They decided that Barnabas was the Greek god Zeus and that Paul, because he was the chief speaker, was Hermes.  The temple of Zeus was located on the outskirts of the city.  The priest of the temple and the crowd brought oxen and wreaths of flowers, and they prepared to sacrifice to the apostles at the city gates.

  Thoughts....

Folks, whatever you do, don't do this:  Don't....do not.....believe that the person who has commanded your healing is God or a god.  They are NOT.  Do not shower them with gifts.  Do not sacrifice unto them.  In matters of question, 'Obey God rather than human authority.'  Acts 5:39 

To faith filled believers - those who command others be healed - do NOT assume you are someone you are not.   You are not creating healing, you are merely a vessel through which God, Jesus, Holy Spirit can work.  Praise God!

You have been chosen to represent God on earth, go in his steed, act as a messenger.  Mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, be God's, Jesus', Holy Spirit's vessel, but do not believe you are God, or assume yourself a godhead.  Nor act how you may define righteous.   Humble yourself as would God, Jesus, Holy Spirit.  You are a temple of God.  Do not act rashly, but act.  Don't act out, but do get out of God's way, so he can act through you. 

It matters not who gets healed - just be there for others to be healed.  And then give them this message:  'The Messiah you are looking for is Jesus.'  Acts 5:42

'There is salvation in no one else!  There is no other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save them.'  Acts 4:12

For the others who listen - heal them, too, for everyone has fallen short of the glory of God.  Everyone needs to be healed - a sign of forgiveness and a promise for hope.

Go forth praising God for all he has done for you, so others will see his fruit.  'He will give you all you need from day to day if you make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.'  Luke 12:31

  Let Us Pray

God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, I have a tendency to sometimes associate things to song.  The lyrics that come to mind right now are, "Is that all there is?  Is that all there is?  (Is that all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing.)  Your love, healing by you, blessings and gifts from you, hope, your promises are so very simple to receive.  We only need to listen with faith to receive your love, your healing touch, your forgiveness, and your grace.  I praise you, and thank you, for all that you have given me, and done for me, and been to me, as you've been by my side, carried me, lived in me, surrounded me, embraced me, and lifted me to new heights of glory.  I praise you and thank you for doing the same for my family, also.  May others know you as I have, and, with faith, listen to receive.  Please help me to continue to be humble, and may I always be your vessel.  For all those in the world, by the power of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus' name, with God,  "Be healed!"  God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, I praise you!  I thank you!  I love you!  May all those in the world learn to do the same.  Amen.

Let us hear from Paul as he prays:  

When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.  And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.  May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now glory be to God!  By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.  May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages.  Amen.  Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT

  Our Continual Cause

It is time to reach into the community and the world around you to see wherein lies the greatest need.  As you choose to focus on these areas, do so with a servant's heart.  Whether the need is for children, adults, animals, the earth, or any cause in between that will help those in need, ask God how you can best serve his needs, what path you must take, and how long you should persevere.  Sometimes we are to be in the lives of others merely as stepping stones.  Sometimes we are to touch those lives forever.  Whatever journey you are called to take, whatever team you will be a member, know this:  God is with you always...even til the end of time.  He loves you, is grateful for you, and will help you along life's way, especially if you are helping others along theirs, persevering with a servant's heart.

"Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer:  "Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth.  You've concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people.  Yes, Father, that's the way you like to work."

Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly.  "The Father has given me all these things to do and say.  This is a unique Father - Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge.  No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does.  But I'm not keeping it to myself; I'm ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen."
