The Good News Wins !

Acts 14: 5 - 7

Acts

A mob of Gentiles and Jews, along with their leaders, decided to attack and stone them.  When the apostles learned of it, they fled for their lives.  They went to the region of Lycaonia, to the cities of Lystra and Derbe and the surrounding area, and they preached the Good News there.

  Thoughts....

Once again a mob of Gentiles and Jews chose to attack and stone Paul and Barnabas, along with their leaders.  They went to the region of Lycaonia this time, to the cities of Lystra and Derbe and the surrounding aream and they preached the Good News there.

It seems God's word is indeed timely in application to my life once again.  Yours, too?  Hold on, the good news is below!

Reading from Acts 13: 44-Acts 14:5 we have learned so far that, Paul and Barnabas

1.  were slandered by some who were jealous

2.  had people argue against whatever was said

3.  had a mob incited against them

4.  were run out of town

5.  had distrust stirred up against them

6.  had all sorts of evil things said about them

7.  found people were divided in their opinion about them

8.  had another mob attack them

9.  were stoned

10. were forced to flee time and again....mostly in a about a week, and then more.

That's the bad news.  But the good news is

1.  almost the entire city turned out to hear them preach the word of the Lord

2.  they spoke out boldly

3.  the Good News was declared

4.  God affirmed them having said prophetically, 'I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.'

5.  the Gentiles were glad and thanked the Lord (not the preachers) for the message

6.  all who were appointed to eternal life became believers

7.  the Lord's message spread throughout that region

8.  they took wise action to release the unbelievers by shaking the dust off their feet against them as they were run out of town

9.  they went to the city of Iconium

10. the believers were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit (despite dire circumstances)

11. Paul and Barnabas, as Christians, went to the Jewish synagogue

12. they preached the Christian Message in the synagogue

13. they preached with such power that a great number of Jews and Gentiles believed

14. despite many evil forces, the apostles stayed there a long time

15. they preached boldly about the grace of God

16. the Lord proved their message was true by giving them power to do miraculous signs and wonders

17. the apostles survived yet another attack to move on to the cities of Lystra and Derba and surrounding area

18. they moved on to the region of Lycaonia, to the cities of Lystra and Derbe and the surrounding area continuing to preach the Good News !

Despite many evil forces, the apostles survived again, and again, and were able to continue to preach The Message: 'There is salvation in no one else!  There is no other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save them.'

The man that was crucified, whom God raised from the dead is Jesus.  Jesus is the one referred to in the scriptures where it says 'The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.  There is salvation in no one else!  There is no other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save them."  Acts 4:10-12

Run to Jesus now in your heart !  He's waiting for you !  You will be glad, if you do !

As Paul and Barnabas urged others along life's way, I too, say, "By God's grace remain faithful."  Through all the evil one, Satan, and his assigns, throw at you, by God's grace remain faithful !  I cannot say that enough.  And be filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit !  Amen!

  Let Us Pray

God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, I am sorry they are coming at me again, but I am not alone.  There are others under attack, too.  Christians, also.  We must surely be in the end times for all the evil that seems to pervade the world.  Yes, it happened back then.  But per capita, it seems to be overwhelming now, but it's doesn't have to be, because I, and all other Christians, have you!  Thank you SO much for being who you are, that you are, and how wonderful you are.   Do NOT let the evil one win.  Do not let the sun go down on Satan's wrath....any day, any minute, nor any hour.  As those of us continue to preach The Good News - The Message - by how we live our lives, and all we share about you and your life, please have our backs, our fronts, our sides, our minds and bodies, spirits and souls, so that we can continue where we are, for now, until such time as the visions for our lives are fulfilled, each individually.  I look forward to the that day, but until then, I look forward to every day, every moment you are in my life, raising me to new heights of glory with you.  May others feel the same and believe, with me, in the fullness of all you are.  Thank you God, Jesus, Holy Spirit for showing me, and the world, all your hope and promise, for embracing us with your joy and your grace, and giving us your power to do miraculous signs and wonders in and with your Holy Name.  In JESUS name, YOU, GOD, WILL win this battle for me, and this battles for others, and ALL battles for all Christians everywhere, from here to eternity, by and with the power of THE HOLY SPIRIT, I pray, I command, AGAINST Satan, and all his assigns !  AMEN !  Thank you, God, Jesus, Holy Spirit !  I LOVE YOU !  I THANK YOU !  I PRAISE YOU !  AMEN !!!!  ALLELUIA !

More love....

  Benediction....Blessing

Let us hear from Paul as he prays:

When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.  And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.  May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now glory be to God!  By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.  May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages.  Amen.  Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT

  Our Continual Cause

It is time to reach into the community and the world around you to see wherein lies the greatest need.  As you choose to focus on these areas, do so with a servant's heart.  Whether the need is for children, adults, animals, the earth, or any cause in between that will help those in need, ask God how you can best serve his needs, what path you must take, and how long you should persevere.  Sometimes we are to be in the lives of others merely as stepping stones.  Sometimes we are to touch those lives forever.  Whatever journey you are called to take, whatever team you will be a member, know this:  God is with you always...even til the end of time.  He loves you, is grateful for you, and will help you along life's way, especially if you are helping others along theirs, persevering with a servant's heart.

Please accept my sincerest thanks....and God's....and may God richly bless you !

  One last thing....

Jesus' Prayer of Thanksgiving

'The Unforced Rhythms of Grace'

"Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer:  "Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth.  You've concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people.  Yes, Father, that's the way you like to work."

Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly.  "The Father has given me all these things to do and say.  This is a unique Father - Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge.  No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does.  But I'm not keeping it to myself; I'm ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen."

"Are you tired?  Worn out?  Burned out on religion?  Come to me.  Get away with me and you'll recover your life.  I'll show you how to take a real rest.  Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it.  Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.  I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn how to live freely and lightly.

Matthew 11:  25-30

  The Message

And the people said,

"Amen."

I now write most prayers in the position of ' I ' (first person) because most people are sitting at their computer alone, not in groups, and it allows those reading and praying to personalize the prayer as coming from them going to God.  Variations may appear on holidays when families may wish to use the prayer provided.  I encourage you to pray your own prayers as well.

NOTE:  I said it long ago, but let me say it again.  If you are wanting to lead a group, start a church, or are confined in an institution, or live in a country where the Gospel is not preached, and you don't know what to say or how to say it, and yet feel led to share, teach, or preach, besides just reading straight out of the Bible and sharing what God puts on your heart, please feel free to share any or all of what I've written, if it will help you, as long as you include where it comes from, due to copyright laws.  Jesus gave God's love and healing freely, as well as his message.  Our responsibility is to get the Word out to those who need to hear it.  If what I've written....by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit....or what he has said through me....has helped you, it may help others that you know.  You are welcome to share it.  God calls all of us to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the world.  Please share it with the fullness of love that God, Jesus, Holy Spirit....and I....have given it.  Amen!
