Be Filled With Joy & The Holy Spirit !

Acts 13: 50 - 52

Then the Jewish leaders stirred up both the influential religious women and the leaders of the city, and they incited a mob against Paul and Barnabas and ran them out of town.  But they shook off the dust of their feet against them and went to the city of Iconium.  And the believers were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

  Thoughts....

It's interesting that the Jewish leaders stirred up both the influential religious leaders of the city, and they incited a mob against Paul and Barnabas, and ran them out of town.

What's really interesting is that

1.  the Jewish religious leaders would find Paul and Barnabas a threat when presumably they believed they had the corner on religion, with Paul and Barnabas small town crackers in a questionable faction,

2.  equally so that the Jewish religious leaders ran in the same circles as influential religious WOMEN and

3.  although I'm not surprised they may have been involved with leaders of the city, but the addition of influential religious WOMEN with the lot seems incongruent to me somehow, based on what little I know of history.  But, then again, look at the women Jesus held in high esteem who went forth to preach his message.  Then and now, by the way.

4.  They incited a mob.  Another interesting thought in light of my current goings on.  [This thought was also written on 06/19/16 - I'm still behind on preaching and uploading to the site - please forgive me.]

But Paul and Barnabas shook the dust off their feet against them and went to the city of Iconium.  Who sang, 'Move on down, move on down the road'?  And which TV show were the words sung, 'Movin' on up, to the top....'?  Was it the Jefferson's?  I think I saw that maybe twice, but the commercial tune was catchy. 

Anyway, Paul and Barnabas moved on down the road....and moved on up....to the top, too.

And look!  It says 'The believers (plural) were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.'

Despite their circumstances, Holy Spirit filled them and they knew joy!  There IS hope and PROMISE!

Despite being slandered and having an attack on their integrity and credibility, their very lives at risk with stress, the believers were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit!

Folks, Holy Spirit will NEVER leave you nor forsake you.  Hold onto him tightly - especially during those times you need him most.  He'll get you THROUGH what you are going through - whatever it is.  Just keep believing and working for, and with, God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. 

In the most dark moments, when your very soul aches with the pain of hurt, and you are afraid, hang on.  You DO have a God, you DO have a Savior, you DO have a Comforter.  Cry out to them.  Be filled with joy and the Holy Spirit !  You've got this....whatever it is....because you have the Trinity:  God, Jesus, Holy Spirit.  And the people said, "Amen!"

  Let Us Pray

God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, whatever unforgiveness is in my heart toward anyone, I release that to you right now.  Cleanse me anew, so that there is plenty of room for Holy Spirit to fully fill me to overflowing with all he has to give me including joy!  I just praise you and thank you for showing me Paul's and Barnabas' plight, so that my pain can be lessened.  It's really nice to know there really are comrades available to help me onward with my load.  I pray right now for all those I work with and those for whom I work.  I've been praying for the companies I work for, the employees, the affiliates, subsidiaries, even for the safety of the buildings we all work in and the air space surrounding those buildings for a little while now.   'Interesting how Satan is listening to prayer to you, God, Jesus, Holy Spirit.  It is how he attacks us best, in our heart of hearts.  Shame on him and all his assigns for the evil they do.  I will continue to pray, and believe, and know joy, with Holy Spirit, for everyone.  Nanny nanny boo boo, Satan.  I've got God, Jesus, Holy Spirit and joy.  They aren't going anywhere, and neither am I.  You can't have me nor anyone I pray for.  IF you would like to reconsider all the awful choices in your life, and that of others who follow you, and you choose to go to God, and lead your followers to God, God may forgive you, and them, if you and they ask, and, you could come home, as could they.   I heard that.  You said, "Over my dead body."  You already are a dead body....so are they.  You could have a place in the Kingdom of God.....maybe.  Prodigal son of hell, what say you?  Talk to God, not me.  It won't do you any good to talk to me, or continue to attempt to talk to me, or attack me, or my family, friends, co-workers, etc.  You need to go to God.  And take your followers with you.  Or, hey, you could stay in hell.  Either way, you can't have me.  End of story.  I am a child of God, a saved follower of Jesus, comforted, lead, and taught by THE Holy Spirit of my Lord and my God who strengthen and carry me daily.  As are my family and many of my friends.  And those who currently are not, I am claiming for God, Jesus, Holy Spirit and believing in their safety from you....and your assigns.  So, I am done talking to you, Satan.  Thanks for listening....I know you heard me, even tho' you act smug, as if you are not.  Be on with you now...you've choices to make and they have nothing to do with me, my family, friends, co-workers, etc.   I've made my choice, and so have/will they.  Dear God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, THANK YOU for being you and being so WONDERFUL to love me, care for me and about me, and love me and my family.  I am so grateful for your love and protection for all of us.  Continue your winged covering over us, keep us sheltered there.  Continue to raise us up to new heights of glory for your sake....and ours.  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.  I just praise you, and thank you, and love you.  Amen!

Let us hear from Paul as he prays:  

When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.  And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.  May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now glory be to God!  By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.  May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages.  Amen.  Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT

  Our Continual Cause

"Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer:  "Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth.  You've concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people.  Yes, Father, that's the way you like to work."

Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly.  "The Father has given me all these things to do and say.  This is a unique Father - Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge.  No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does.  But I'm not keeping it to myself; I'm ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen."
