Believers....Part 6....All Called To Turn & Go !

Acts 13: 1 - 3

Acts 

 Among the prophets and teachers of the church at Antioch of Syria were Barnabas, Simeon (called "the black man"), Lucius (from Cyrene), Manaen (the childhood companion of King Herod Antipas), and Saul.  One day as these men were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "dedicate Barnabas and Saul for the special work I have for them."  So after more fasting and prayer, the men laid their hands on them and sent them on their way.

  Thoughts....

As we conclude our lessons on Acts 13:1-3, if what Luke has to say is not enough proof that ALL are called to share the salvation message [preach], prophesy, teach, worship, fast, pray, dedicate, lay hands, send, go forth, etc., read what Paul had to say as documented historically in 2 Corinthians 1:21-22:  "It is GOD who gives us [us-ALL Christians per 2 Cor inthians 1] along with you, the ability to stand firm for Christ.  HE has commissioned us, and HE has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the FIRST installment of everything he will give us." [We learn more as we go!]  

GOD ordains, not man's laying on of hands.  GOD commissions us, not going to a 'many year' seminary, Priest, Pope, Pastor, Minister, or Bishop.  The folks in Antioch of Syria, Phoenicia, Cyprus, and those who went to Antioch form Cyprus and Cyrene did not wait around for years of study and a degree. They didn't hold court in front of a group of men believing in their power to lay hands as a dedication, divination, of sorts, nor ordination by such.   They did as GOD ordained, and JESUS commanded many [over 500, in fact, physically present, and all of those of us who've been born since who have turned to him, becoming Christians] when Jesus met with them prior to his ascension into heaven and after his death and resurrection.  And every day since to those of us today accepting him as Savior and making him Lord of our lives. 

As outlined in Luke 24, specifically note verses 33, 47-49, Jesus said, "With MY authority, take this message of repentance [preach, teach, prophesy, heal, etc.] to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem:  'There is forgiveness of sins for all who turn to me. '  You are witnesses of all these things. And now I will send THE HOLY SPIRIT, just as my Father promised.  But stay here in the city until THE HOLY SPIRIT comes and fills you with power from heaven.'"     

Has Holy Spirit come and filled you with power from heaven?   What are you waiting for ? !  Turn !  GO !

  Let Us Pray

Father God, Jesus Savior and Lord, Holy Spirit Teacher and Comforter, thank you so much for making clear to me, and all Christians everywhere, that our expression of thanksgiving to you for all you've done, are doing, and will do, is not to just sit back and be fed spiritual truths, but to go forth, having been fed to feed others, and with that nourishment, help them grow and mature in you and with you.  And then to do just as you've commanded, GO, once Holy Spirit comes upon us....within us. That means we must wait for the Holy Spirit, which is a form of asking....saying we are willing, ready, for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. [Acts 1:5, Luke 3:15-17, John 1:32-34]  Oh, God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, thank you so much for all you've given me.  May all believers everywhere understand the great joy, fire, strength, and more, that they will receive from you when Holy Spirit comes to live within.  But Lord, I would be remiss if I did not warn them about the fact that Satan will attack them with voracity.  He literally wants to consume all alive to enter his evil fold.  May they pray to be strengthened during those times of attack and realize it for what it is, and who it is, causing such terrorist activity in their lives.  Keep me strong, Lord.  Stay close beside me, within me, surround me, that I may be safe always and not cower to work you've set before me.  I am so grateful and love you so much.  Thank you for the extra love in my life and that of my family you've just blessed us with.  May I, and they, rise to new heights for you, better our pace, journey aright along.  May everyone else following you as a believer do the same.  I thank you!  I praise you!  I love you!  Amen!

Let us hear from Paul as he prays:  

When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.  And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.  May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now glory be to God!  By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.  May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages.  Amen.  Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT

  Our Continual Cause
