The Good News

Acts 12: 24 - 25

Acts 

But God's Good News was spreading rapidly, and there were many new believers.

When Barnabas and Saul had finished their mission in Jerusalem, they returned to Antioch, taking John Mark with them.

Thoughts....

'God's Good News was spreading rapidly and there were many believers.' 

How will others know, if you don't tell them?  Who will go, if you do not?  Go forth, but return.  And share the journey with others!

When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are not to just stop in life, in that moment, and be still forever, not sharing, not letting him go, selfishly keeping him to ourselves.  We must share our good news, our salvation, our joy, the promise of forgiveness, and the offer of eternal life...a promise, if we obey him.

Shall we hide under a rock?  NO.  We must burst forth with his song in our hearts that he loves us and wants to embrace others with his love, too!

When you get something really great, you want to share your joy with others!  Why not share Jesus, too?  What greater gifts can there be than forgiveness of sins and eternal life?

'This is the Good News:  the Messiah you are seeking is Jesus!'  Acts 5:42

'Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere!'

  Let Us Pray

LORD God, Lamb of God,  you take away the sins of the world.  Happy are they who turn to you.  Holy Spirit, you lead, guide and direct us, as you gently, and with love, teach us what we need to know from Father LORD God, and Jesus Lamb of God.   Thank you for all you do for everyone who reaches out to you.  I am very grateful for your presence in my life....a life I could not live without you.  Certainly, I would not live eternally without all you have done and will do for me, offering me eternal life, if I but obey you.  I pray I will never do anything that will be outside the realm of obeying you. I pray you will always be there to lead me, guide me, direct me, teach me, uplift me, love me, embrace me, and hold on tightly. Please know that, when I am not holding on tight to you, it's when I need you to hold me tighter.  May I temper everyday, many times in the day, with how I should live my life for you.  And with you.  For apart from you I can do nothing.  You even said Lord, as historically recorded in the Gospel of John 15:5-8, "Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches.  Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.  Anyone who parts from me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers.  Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.  But if you stay joined to me and my words remain in you, you may ask any request you like, and it will be granted!  My true disciples produce much fruit.  This brings great glory to my Father."  Oh, Father God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, may I not harden my heart, nor may it be hardened by Satan knocking on heaven's door....my heart that holds you.  Help me to always proclaim your Holy name, God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, sharing with everyone who you are, that you are and how wonderful you are!  May I even shout from mountaintops.  I praise you and thank you....and love you!  Amen.

Let us hear from Paul as he prays:  

When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.  And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.  May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now glory be to God!  By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.  May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages.  Amen.  Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT

  Our Continual Cause

It is time to reach into the community and the world around you to see wherein lies the greatest need.  As you choose to focus on these areas, do so with a servant's heart.  Whether the need is for children, adults, animals, the earth, or any cause in between that will help those in need, ask God how you can best serve his needs, what path you must take, and how long you should persevere.  Sometimes we are to be in the lives of others merely as stepping stones.  Sometimes we are to touch those lives forever.  Whatever journey you are called to take, whatever team you will be a member, know this:  God is with you always...even til the end of time.  He loves you, is grateful for you, and will help you along life's way, especially if you are helping others along theirs, persevering with a servant's heart.

"Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer:  "Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth.  You've concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people.  Yes, Father, that's the way you like to work."

Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly.  "The Father has given me all these things to do and say.  This is a unique Father - Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge.  No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does.  But I'm not keeping it to myself; I'm ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen."
