Who We Are

The Church of the Holy Spirit is a Christian church.

We believe in God the Father....our Father, Creator

In Jesus, the Messiah....our Savior and Lord
and in
Holy Spirit, our Comforter, Teacher, and Guide.

We believe that God made the heavens, the earth, and all creatures therein.

And that He forgives us of our sins.

God has given all creatures His son, Jesus, who died on a cross and arose from the dead.

We believe Jesus went to heaven and is now seated at God’s right hand.

His death and resurrection has given us the opportunity to receive the gift of eternal life.

God has given us Holy Spirit to teach, comfort, and guide us.

We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God.

*

Jesus Christ from Nazareth, the man who was crucified, was raised from the dead by God!

Jesus has now become the cornerstone.

"There is salvation in no one else!  There is no other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save them."

Acts 4: 10 - 12

Who are God, Jesus and Holy Spirit?

God is our heavenly Father who created the heavens and the earth.  He lovingly forgives our sins.  God gave us His Son, Jesus, who died on a cross, and arose from the dead.  Jesus now sits at the right hand of God.  He is the Messiah, our Savior.  He can be our Lord, if we believe in him and accept him.  He gave us the opportunity to receive eternal life.  When Jesus went to heaven, Holy Spirit was made available to us to comfort, teach, and guide us.

God in the beginning:  Genesis 1 & 2
Jesus:  Matthew 1, 2 & 3
Holy Spirit:  John 15:26, 16:5-15

Are you one with God, Jesus and Holy Spirit?

If you have not accepted the Trinity (God, Jesus, Holy Spirit) into your life to receive all they have to give you, and you would like to, pray this prayer or use your own words from your heart:

“Dear Heavenly Father God, please forgive me of my sins known and unknown.  Jesus, please come into my life, heal me, and make me whole.  Give me a new life in and with you.  I wish to receive all that you have to give.  Baptize me in the fullness of your Holy Spirit, so that I can learn all I can about you, to love you as you love me, so I can love others, and, so I can love myself.  Holy Spirit, please fill me to overflowing with all the fruits and the gifts you have to give me to help me grow in Christ Jesus and be able to share the Trinity with others.  Thank you for giving me this new life.  Please send other Christians to surround me to help me grow and be strong to defeat Satan and the things of the world.  Help me to be worthy of your love.  Thank you God, Jesus and Holy Spirit.  In Jesus' name I pray, by and with the power of the Holy Spirit, to dear Heavenly Father God.  Amen.”

If you have prayed this prayer, or one from your heart, please email us at TrinityMissions@msn.com, so we can agree with you in prayer, praise God, and uplift you with prayer support.  We are thrilled to welcome you into the family of believers and encourage you to find a church home nearby where you can study, grow, and fellowship with others.  Someone may need your support as much as you need them.  We are commanded to come together in fellowship to worship His majesty.

If you choose to fellowship with us via the web, we are honored to welcome you to the Church of the Holy Spirit.  We pray you will be enriched and uplifted in the fullness of the Trinity to their glory.  Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing from time to time.  We hope to have a special page for this purpose.  We now have a page where you will be able to list prayers for all to see, so that we may come together praying as a body of believers, for Jesus said, ‘wherever two or more shall gather, there will I be.’   Don’t forget to send prayers of thanksgiving, as well as petitions of tears.

You are who God calls ‘The Promise Children’, as in Romans 9:25-26 NLT:

“Those who were not my people, I will now call my people.  And I will love those whom I did not love before.  And, once they were told, ‘You are not my people.’ But now he will say, ‘You are children of the living God.”

“The Kingdom of God is near you now.”

The Apostle Paul gave us this “Prayer for Spiritual Empowerment” in Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT.  It reads

“When I think of the wisdom and scope of God’s plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.  And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.  May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now glory be to God!  By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.  May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages.  Amen.”

Jesus told us to remain in his love in John 15:9-13 NLT:

“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me.  Remain in my love.  When you obey me, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father and remain in his love.  I have told you this so that you will be filled with my joy.  Yes, your joy will overflow!  I command you to love each other in the same way that I love you.  And here is how to measure it - the greatest love is shown when people lay down their lives for their friends."

Message Of Life - Teach & Obey - Part 3

Acts 5: 26 - 32

 Luke

The captain went with his Temple guards and arrested them, but without violence, for they were afraid the people would kill them if they treated the apostles roughly.  Then they brought the apostles in before the council.  "Didn't we tell you never again to teach in this man's name?" the high priest demanded.  "Instead, you have filled all Jerusalem with your teaching about Jesus, and you intend to blame us for his death!"

But Peter and the apostles replied, "We must obey God rather than human authority.  The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead after you killed him by crucifying him.  Then God put him in the place of honor at his right hand as Prince and Savior.  He did this to give the people of Israel an opportunity to turn from their sins and turn to God so their sins would be forgiven.  We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him."

Thoughts....

Teach and obey....there's no other way.   A play on words from a song of long ago, but convincing nonetheless.  It's what God calls us to do:  teach the Gospel lessons and obey him at all cost.  For the cost is surely great to lose one's life to Satan, if we don't obey God.

But I'm getting ahead of myself a bit.  Recall that we've been studying Acts 5 and that the apostles have been teaching and healing along their journey.  And the high priest had arrested the apostles, but an angel of the Lord let them out of jail secretly.  They then chose to go back to the Temple to preach on the steps, if you will.  This further infuriated the high priest and his cronies.....the guys he hung out with....the local leaders.  This brings us up to todays lesson.  And 'today' the apostles were arrested....again.  But this time without violence, we learn, because they were afraid the people would kill them if they treated the apostles roughly.

And then the high priest told them....demanding...."Didn't we tell you never again to teach in this man's name?"  "Instead you have filled all Jerusalem with your teaching about Jesus, and you intend to blame us for his death!"  Note the exclamation point...he was NOT happy.

But Peter and the apostles replied, "We must obey God rather than human authority."  I love this!  There is NO higher authority in all of the earth!  This is part of the Message of Life.  We learn more of this as we read further:  "The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead after you killed him by crucifying him.  Then God put him [Jesus] in the place of honor at his right hand as Prince and SaviorHe [God] did this to give the people of Israel [and everyone in the world] an opportunity to turn from their sins and turn to God so their sins would be forgiven."  The apostles go on to say "We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him."  [Say OBEY HIM.]

Let's see what John the Baptist had to say, since he was the first to 'prepare the way'....lead the journey....to obey God by believing in,  be accepting of, following, and obeying, him, Jesus and Holy Spirit.  Turn to Matthew 3.  I'm reprinting the whole thing here for the benefit of those who may not have a Bible handy in the New Living Translation.

Matthew 3

In those days John the Baptist began preaching in the Judean wilderness.  His message was, "Turn from your sins and turn to God, because the Kingdom of Heaven is near."  [This confirms what Peter said in todays lesson.]  Isaiah had spoken of John when he said, "He is a voice shouting in the wilderness:  Prepare a  pathway for the Lord's coming!'

John's clothes were woven from camel hair, and he wore a leather belt; his food was locusts and wild honey.  People from Jerusalem and from every section of Judea and from all over the Jordan Valley went out to the wilderness to hear him preach.  And when they confessed their sins, he baptized them in the Jordan River.

But when he saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to be baptized, he denounced them.  "You brood of snakes!" he exclaimed.  "Who warned you to flee God's coming judgment?  Prove by the way you live that you have really turned from your sins and turned to God.  [This is about obeying God.]  Don't just say, 'We're safe - we're the descendants of Abraham.'  That proves nothing.  God can change these stones here into children of Abraham.  Even now the ax of God's judgment is poised, ready to sever your roots.  Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire.  [If you obey God, you will produce fruit and prove it by living a life to prove to him that you have Holy Spirit within by expressing the fruits of the Spirit given you as outlined in Galatians 5, and, you will bring others into the Kingdom of God.]

"I baptize with water those who turn from their sins and turn to God.  But someone is coming soon who is far greater than I am - so much greater that I am not even worthy to be his slave.  He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.  He is ready to separate the chaff from the grain with his winnowing fork.  Then he will clean up the threshing area, storing the grain in his barn but burning the chaff with never-ending fire."  [This paragraph tells us about Jesus....and part of his duties towards us regarding salvation....whether we get to heaven....or not....and is precedence to what Jesus further confirms when he speaks to all in John 15, see below.]

[The following paragraphs tell us who Jesus is....the Son of God!  Which reinforces his power.]

Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John.  But John didn't want to baptize him.  "I am the one who needs to be baptized by you," he said, "so why are you coming to me?"

But Jesus said, "It must be done, because we must do everything that is right."  So then John baptized him.

After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him.  And a voice from heaven said, "This is my beloved Son, and I am fully pleased with him."

Now I am want you to turn to John 15.  In John 15:1-17 we have confirmation of what John the Baptist said, and what Peter said to the high priest and his buddies in todays lesson.  Jesus speaks to us directly in John 15.  Again, I will give you a complete reprint.

John 15:1-17

Jesus said:  "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.  He cuts off every branch that doesn't produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.  You have already been pruned for greater fruitfulness by the message I have given you.  Remain in me, and I will remain in you.  For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful apart from me.  [See Galatians 5 again for starters.]

"Yes I am the vine; you are the branches.  Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit.  For apart from me you can do nothing.  Anyone who parts from me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers.  Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.  [This last sentence confirms what John the Baptist said about what Jesus would do if we didn't obey God and him.]  But if you stay joined to me and my words remain in you, you may ask any request you like, and it will be granted!  My true disciples produce much fruit.  This brings great glory to my Father.  [! Major important act !]

"I have loved you even as the Father has loved me.  Remain in my love.  When you obey me [Jesus], you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father and remain in his love.  I have told you this so that you will be filled with my joy.  Yes, your joy will overflow!  I command you to love each other in the same way that I love you.  And here is how to measure it - the greatest love is shown when people lay down their lives for their friends. You are my friends if you obey me [Jesus].  I no longer call you servants, because a master doesn't confide in his servants.  Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.  You didn't choose me.  I chose you.  I appointed you to go and produce fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.  I command you to love each other."

So you can see the importance...and validity....of what Peter and the apostles are saying to the high priest and the gang.  They may have minced words by not conveying chapter and verse as I have, but they certainly spoke it succinctly and without blemish.

I met someone recently who relayed to me that in going to a New Testament church everything was negative.  I wonder as I read todays lesson, if someone might hear a negative lesson.  It is possible to hear this lesson with a negative connotation, but that is very far away from the intent of the love and grace offered.  Peter and the apostles were not attempting to slam the message down peoples' throats.  They were attempting to share the wonderful saving message of love and life and forgiveness of sins for all.  That's why Jesus came to earth.  While on earth, he was persecuted....hung on a cross and died....yet was victorious.  He arose from the dead....lived again on earth....and is now living forever in heaven....as he sits at the right hand of God....still victorious.  I'm guessing that is the message of life that was also preached at the New Testament church to which the person I met attended.

Certainly I can see why Peter and the apostles would be upset, angry towards the people who killed their Savior, their friend, their brother.  But had they not killed Jesus, the salvation God, Jesus, Holy Spirit now offer would not exist.

I can see why the high priest and his gang would be upset, angry towards the apostles.  They were being disrespected in their minds, and their power was being usurped.  But they thought is was to be their earthly power.  Technically it was, if they had turned their lives over to Jesus, because they wouldn't be radical violent authoritarians, IF, big IF, they obeyed God, Jesus, Holy Spirit.  But the whole message of the New Testament, the whole intent of Jesus' death and resurrection, of obeying God rather than man, is not about something negative.  It is not about finger-pointing, so much as embracing to lift up.  It is about being given the opportunity for life everlasting!  About being forgiven for sins committed.  It is about a freedom unmeasured, not able to be weighed, without borders or limits.  It's not about being the bad person that exists within all of us, it's about bringing out the good and best and placing the very best....God, Jesus, Holy Spirit within us, so we can rise above life's negative situations, so we can know we will never be alone because they will always be with us.  It's about being given directions for a path, already tread and tried, that leads to eternal life.

Will anyone, will you, if you choose to follow the path of Christ as outlined in the New Testament, be corrected by God on occasion?  Are you perfect?  I'm not.  I can guarantee you that God will correct you (just like he corrects me), to give you the opportunity to make a correction in the direction on the path of life, so you don't proceed on a wayward, stray path.  Will Satan continue to keep "Knock knock knockin' on heaven's door" within?  You betcha.  No doubt about it.  Even Jesus was tempted after his baptism for 40 straight days and nights....and throughout his life until he reached God's right hand.  And really, Satan continues to be an ardent foe to him.  Satan continues to attack God's kids....those of us who have chosen to accept Jesus as our Savior and make him Lord of our life.  One of those ways is to persist in making us believe that the message of salvation is one of negativity.  Satan tempers our ears to hear the worst.  And project the worst.  But IF, big IF, we choose to fully accept Jesus as our Savior, he can heal us of all that has gone on before, so we get the saving message, we hear the positive message of love and acceptance.

You know, perhaps people hear negative if they continue to pursue a path that is not of Christ, not of the salvation message.  Perhaps those folks will hear the negatives, even if given with loving instruction, especially if they are comfortable in their misery, their sins.  Or in not wanting to let go of the sins of others upon them....or those sins they've inflicted upon others.  Some folks can be insecure, and so to hold onto any love, even bad love, is worth the misery than letting go of it to receive GREAT love by God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, because in their eyes, the arms of the Trinity are not the same as having had the arms of others around them....even if it was painful love.  But it is most assuredly NOT God's ideal.  It is NOT what he wants for his children....those of us he loves and has given life to through his son Jesus, who loved us so much so as to be willing to be persecuted and die on a cross for us.

THAT message, the one where Jesus suffered for us [so we don't have to] to be victorious, and, so that we, too, may be victorious, THAT is the Message of Life and love that he wants all of us to HEAR, embrace....and teach....and with love obey....as we are ardently loved by the Trinity....for eternity.

Wait!  Listen!  Can you hear Jesus?  He's speaking to you....

"I have loved you even as the Father has loved me.   Remain in my love.  When you obey me, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father and remain in his love.  I have told you this so that you will be filled with my joy.  Yes, your joy will overflow!

Trust him.....he's waiting for you.  And his arms are open.....just for you.  Go to him now....

  Let Us Pray

Oh Father God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, forgive me of my sins.  Heal me and make me whole.  I've been hurting a long time, but I don't want to hurt anymore.  I know you can heal me.  I know you will forgive me.  Thank you for doing so.  Help me to love you with my whole heart.  Remove from me everything that is not of you, that has put me down and kept me down.  I have not loved you with my whole heart because it has been so broken, betrayed, injured, attacked, nearly destroyed.  I don't want to live as the sad scared inner child anymore, I want to thrive as an assertive, gifted, fruit-filled, adult of with your love, God, Jesus, Holy Spirit.  I want to stop wallowing in self-pity, hanging with folks who reinforce the negatives, and start operating in heavenly ways of positive reinforcement and living a life of your joy....and mine.  Oh, Father God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, raise me up to new heights of YOUR glory for your name's sake.  Yea tho' I walk through the valley of death in Satan's world on earth, I shall fear no evil, for you God, Jesus, Holy Spirit ARE with me.  My cup WILL runneth over with goodness and mercy.  Surely I WILL be in your arms forever.  Thank you.  I love you.  Amen.

God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, I come to you now with a humble heart.  Thank you for all you've done for me....including dying, Jesus, that I might have the opportunity to have eternal life.  Please forgive me and cleanse me of my sins, God.  Holy Spirit, please fill me  to overflowing, that I might have all you have to give me to help me OBEY you, as I go forth, teaching THIS Message of Life: 'The Messiah you are looking for is Jesus'.  Help me be bold enough to step forth and speak, teaching everything you would have me to teach....listening for your voice at all times to know what and how to teach, as I continue to obey you.  Help me be gentle, caring, and loving in my approach, so that you will be heard through me.  Help me be respectful at all times, never seeking my way, but yours.  And help me embrace everyone as you would, that they might feel your arms, not mine.  Father God, Savior Lord Jesus....Messiah come, Teacher and Guide Holy Spirit, I surrender all within me to you that you might forgive me of my sins, heal me and make me whole, and rise fully within me, so I can OBEY YOU, do your will, not mine, and, so others can see you in me, and know that YOU live in me as I teach your Gospel Message of Life.  I pray, and hope, no....EXPECT(!) to always be open to you, your message, your arms, your voice, your way of life, as you continue to work through me to help others for you.  I praise you and thank you!  Amen.

If you have not accepted Jesus as your Messiah/Savior, and want to, pray this prayer, or one from your heart:

God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, I have not loved you with my whole heart, I have not loved my neighbor as myself.  I am truly sorry and I humbly ask your forgiveness.  Please heal my mind, body, spirit, soul, and heal me financially, economically.  Please forgive and heal my family, too.  Help me help them be able to come to you, too, on that last day when the trumpet sounds, when they, like I, have shown their self approved, and can receive the prize of the high calling of you, God, being in your arms, and that of THE Lord, Jesus Christ.  Help me, my family, and others learn all we can about you, and obey you, as you give loving direction, because you love me and care about me and them so much.  And please help me, and all others, teach everyone about who you are, that you are, and how wonderful you are.  Thank you, Jesus, for giving me this opportunity to know you and be one with you by your birth, life, death, and resurrection to heaven.  Thank you for helping me to obey you.  Now, Holy Spirit, give me utterance, that I may speak and teach what you tell me to, as I obey you, so others may know you through me.  Be so fully within me, Holy Spirit, that others may be healed by you through me.  I pray this with praise and thanksgiving.  Thank you.  Amen.

Let us hear from Paul as he prays:

When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.  And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.  May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

  Our Continual Cause

It is time to reach into the community and the world around you to see wherein lies the greatest need.  As you choose to focus on these areas, do so with a servant's heart.  Whether the need is for children, adults, or animals, or any cause in between that will help those in need, ask God how you can best serve his needs, what path you must take, and how long you should persevere.  Sometimes we are to be in the lives of others merely as stepping stones.  Sometimes we are to touch those lives forever.  Whatever journey you are called to take, whatever team you will be a member, know this:  God is with you always...even til the end of time.  He loves you, is grateful for you, and will help you along life's way, especially if you are helping others along theirs, persevering with a servant's heart.

Please accept my sincerest thanks....and God's....and may God richly bless you !

    One last thing....

 Jesus' Prayer of Thanksgiving

'The Unforced Rhythms of Grace'

"Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer:  "Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth.  You've concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people.  Yes, Father, that's the way you like to work."

Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly.  "The Father has given me all these things to do and say.  This is a unique Father - Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge.  No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does.  But I'm not keeping it to myself; I'm ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen."

"Are you tired?  Worn out?  Burned out on religion?  Come to me.  Get away with me and you'll recover your life.  I'll show you how to take a real rest.  Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it.  Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.  I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn how to live freely and lightly.

  The Message

And the people said,

"Amen."

I now write most prayers in the position of ' I ' (first person) because most people are sitting at their computer alone, not in groups, and it allows those reading and praying to personalize the prayer as coming from them going to God.  Variations may appear on holidays when families may wish to use the prayer provided.  I encourage you to pray your own prayers as well.

NOTE:  I said it long ago, but let me say it again.  If you are wanting to lead a group, start a church, or are confined in an institution, or live in a country where the Gospel is not preached, and you don't know what to say or how to say it, and yet feel led to share, teach, or preach, besides just reading straight out of the Bible and sharing what God puts on your heart, please feel free to share any or all of what I've written, if it will help you, as long as you include where it comes from, due to copyright laws.  Jesus gave God's love and healing freely, as well as his message.  Our responsibility is to get the Word out to those who need to hear it.  If what I've written....by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit....or what he has said through me....has helped you, it may help others that you know.  You are welcome to share it.  God calls all of us to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the world.  Please share it with the fullness of love that God, Jesus, Holy Spirit....and I....have given it.  Amen!
