   Who We Are

The Church of the Holy Spirit is a Christian church.

We believe in God the Father....our Father, Creator

In Jesus, the Messiah....Savior
and in
Holy Spirit, Comforter and Teacher.

We believe that God made the heavens and the earth, he forgives us of our sins,
 and gave all creatures His son, Jesus,
who died on a cross allowing us to receive eternal life.

We believe Jesus went to heaven, he is now seated at God’s right hand,
 and
that God gave us Holy Spirit to teach, comfort, and guide us.

We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God.

*

Jesus Christ from Nazareth, the man who was crucified, was raised from the dead by God!

Jesus has now become the cornerstone.

"There is salvation in no one else!  There is no other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save them."

Acts 4: 10 - 12

Holy Bible New Living Translation

Who are God, Jesus and Holy Spirit?

God is our heavenly Father who 'created the heavens and the earth'.  He lovingly forgives our sins.  God gave us His Son, Jesus, who died on a cross.  He is the Messiah, our Savior and Lord.  He gives us the opportunity to receive eternal life. When Jesus went to heaven, Holy Spirit was made available to us to comfort, teach, and guide us.

God in the beginning:  Genesis 1 & 2
Jesus:  Matthew 1, 2 & 3
Holy Spirit:  John 15:26, 16:5-15

Are you one with God, Jesus and Holy Spirit?

If you have not accepted the Trinity (God, Jesus, Holy Spirit) into your life to receive all they have to give you, and you would like to, pray this prayer or use your own words from your heart:

“Dear Heavenly Father God, please forgive me of my sins known and unknown.  Jesus, please come into my life, heal me, and make me whole.  Give me a new life in and with you.  I wish to receive all that you have to give.  Baptize me in the fullness of your Holy Spirit, so that I can learn all I can about you, to love you as you love me, and so I can love others.  So I can love myself.  Holy Spirit, please fill me to overflowing with all the fruits and the gifts you have to give me to help me grow in Christ Jesus and be able to share the Trinity with others.  Thank you for giving me this new life.  Please send other Christians to surround me to help me grow and be strong to defeat Satan and the things of the world.  Help me to be worthy of your love.  Thank you God, Jesus and Holy Spirit.  In Jesus name I pray by and with the power of the Holy Spirit, to dear Heavenly Father God.  Amen.”

***

If you have prayed this prayer, or one from your heart, please email us at TrinityMissions@msn.com, so we can agree with you in prayer, praise God, and uplift you with prayer support.  We are thrilled to welcome you into the family of believers and encourage you to find a church home nearby where you can study, grow and fellowship with others.  Someone may need your support as much as you need them.  We are commanded to come together in fellowship to worship His majesty.

If you choose to fellowship with us via the web, we are honored to welcome you to the Church of the Holy Spirit.  We pray you will be enriched and uplifted in the fullness of the Trinity to their glory.  Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing from time to time.  As the website grows, we will have a special page for this purpose, and, you will be able to list prayers for all to see, so that we may come together praying as a body of believers, for ‘wherever two or more shall gather, there will I be.’   Don’t forget to send prayers of thanksgiving, as well as petitions of tears.

You are who God calls ‘The Promise Children’, as in Romans 9:25-26 NLT:

“Those who were not my people, I will now call my people.  And I will love those whom I did not love before.  And, once they were told, ‘You are not my people.’  But now he will say, ‘You are children of the living God.”

“The Kingdom of God is near you now.”

The Apostle Paul gave us a “Prayer for Spiritual Empowerment” in Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT.  It reads

“When I think of the wisdom and scope of God’s plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.  And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.  May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now glory be to God!  By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.  May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages.  Amen.”

Jesus told us to remain in his love in John 15:9-13 NLT:

“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me.  Remain in my love.  When you obey me, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father and remain in his love.  I have told you this so that you will be filled with my joy.  Yes, your joy will overflow!  I command you to love each other in the same way that I love you.  And here is how to measure it - the greatest love is shown when people lay down their lives for their friends."

  Rebuke, Forgive, Have Faith, Obey

Luke 17: 1 - 10

Luke

One day Jesus said to his disciples, "There will always be temptations to sin, but how terrible it will be for the person who does the tempting.  It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around the neck than to face the punishment in store for harming one of these little ones.  I am warning you!  If another believer sins, rebuke him; then if he repents, forgive him.  Even if he wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, forgive him."

One day the apostles said to the Lord, "We need more faith; tell us how to get it."

"Even if you had faith as small as a mustard seed," the Lord answered, "you could say to this mulberry tree, 'May God uproot you and throw you into the sea,' and it would obey you!

"When a servant comes in from plowing or taking care of sheep, he doesn't just sit down and eat.  He must first prepare his master's meal and serve him his supper before eating his own.  and the servant is not even thanked, because he is merely doing what he is supposed to do.  In the same way, when you obey me you should say, 'We are not worthy of praise.  We are servants who have simply done our duty.'"

Thoughts.....

Snippets. Jesus is giving us snippets, or nuggets of gold.  As I've mentioned before, Jesus is in the midst of a group of people most likely throwing out questions to him.  Much like a press conference you've seen on TV, questions are called out and Jesus responds.  It is not that he does not have cohesive trains of thought, it is that he is responding to the masses as they question him. Today, he gives us 4 distinct thoughts.  He talks about rebuking and forgiving.  Then he addresses an example of what having even a little faith can achieve.  Lastly, he addresses being dutiful in obeying.  Let's go through them briefly (?) one by one.

Sin.  Temptation.  Pretty much one and the same.  It is uncertain if, when Jesus speaks of 'little ones', he is referring to children in the crowd or all those in Christ who he cherishes, as does Father God, who look upon as their children. The punishment meted out for sin or temptation would be worse, he says, than to have a millstone tied around one's neck and thrown into the sea to drown.  That's a pretty ugly, painful image to me.  And Jesus is extremely intent on getting the message across, note the exclamation in his sentence.  "I am warning you!"  He not only sternly warns, he does so with major emphasis.

Then he goes on to state that if a believer sins, we are to rebuke them.  Then if....IF....they repent, we are to forgive them.  "Even if they do wrong seven times a day, and each time turns and asks forgiveness, forgive them", he says.

I know where your head may be going....I spoke of God not forgiving the reprobate mind.  The difference between the reprobate mind and what Jesus is referring to here, is that. a believer who is trying to learn and grow, who realizes and accepts they are sinning, is asking forgiveness, in an attempt to try and do better and grow in Christ.  A reprobate mind doesn't give a hangnail of care or concern that they are sinning and hurting others, chooses not to accept the title of sinner, nor accept they have sinned, and surely is not going to ask forgiveness.  They know they should quit doing what they are doing and do not want to, or, they refuse to believe they have done anything wrong.  They do not have a concern as to the state of their spiritual well being nor, quite frankly, how that impacts others'.  They are only selfishly intent on having their needs met, and being 'right' in 'their' mind, refusing to look at the situation from a spiritual or even another person's perspective.  They 'know all things' and 'have all the answers'.  It's what they 'know', or it is wrong....and everyone around them is wrong except them.

Paul spoke of this in Galatians 5:19-21.  He said, "When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, your lives will produce these evil results:  sexual immorality, impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure, idolatry, participation in demonic activities, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, divisions, the feeling that everyone is wrong except those in your own little group, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other kinds of sin. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.  Jumping to verse 26:  Let us not become conceited, or irritate one another, or be jealous of one another.  Please note:  many 'so-called' Christians will tell you they live by the next paragraph, rather than by this paragraph while being in denial or self-imposed 'rightness'.  They will not accept that they could be wrong or sinning.

Conversely, rightly, Paul also addressed the way a believer....a Christian....is supposed to live.  Continuing to read in Galatians 5 verses 22-25, Paul says, "But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us:  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  Here there is no conflict with the law.  Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.  If we are living now by the Holy Spirit, let us follow the Holy Spirit's leading in every part of our lives."  Please note:  the 'good' Christian may be one who is abusive behind closed doors and adamant about their 'rightness'.  Which falls in the previous paragraph, certainly not this one.

Is anybody perfect?  Not on this earth.  Just remember....if you know you are sinning and you ask forgiveness from your heart, that is an indication you are trying to be a repentant 'quality' Christian who wants to obey God and is headed toward eternal life.  If you are above asking for forgiveness, or are too prideful to 'lower yourself', watch out....millstones are mighty heavy....eternal death is pretty severe....definitely permanent, as we learned last week.

Moving on....Jesus spoke to someone seeking more faith.  Instead of telling them how to gain more faith, he addressed what a little amount of faith could achieve.  If they had faith as small as a grain of mustard seed, they would be able to speak to a mulberry tree and it would obey you.  I find it interesting to note that Jesus said a tree could understand what we say and be willing to obey us.  Think about that for a minute.  In our human finite minds, that seems mighty impossible.  But if you consider that everything that lives on this earth has God's DNA, that our cellular structure is shared, you would understand that trees, birds, lizards, butterflies, puppy dogs and kitty cats, etc., live for and with God.  They know him and understand more than the human race has given them credit, I am sure.  Now, if your puppy is still not getting the concept of using the paper only, chalk it up to original sin.  Really, you aren't obeying God any better than the puppy.  Perhaps when you get inline, the puppy will, too.  Hmmmmm.....food for thought.  For the record, you are not alone....I'm having a 'wee' spot of trouble with my puppy dog as well.  I will do as I suggest to you, I will ask God's forgiveness for not being more obedient to him.  And ask forgiveness for my pup.  Maybe we will both get it right post haste.

So, here is another place that Jesus spoke about faith:  Mark 11:22-26.  Jesus said, "Have faith in GodI assure you that you can say to this mountain, 'May God lift you up and throw you into the sea, and your command will be obeyedAll that's required is that you really believe and do not doubt in your heart.  Listen to me!  You can pray for anything, and if you believe, you will have itBut when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too."  This is a powerful teaching.  Praying first for forgiveness against another, and for yourself, allows one to be an open cleansed vessel....a temple....that God, Jesus, Holy Spirit can feel safe in.  A temple they are willing and desiring to work and live within.  Then the rest is up to you.  He says emphatically, "Listen to me!"  Note the exclamation point.  Not a stern teacher, but one who does not want to keep going over the same point, and, one who is worthy of respect and attention....he knows how paramount this concept/directive/command is to the essence of life....eternal life.  Jesus attempts to assure the people that if they only had faith in God, their commands would be obeyed.  Nothing has changed since he said these words, this is a message as clear for us today as it was when he walked the earth.

"All that is required is that you REALLY believe and do NOT doubt in your heart.  After you've asked forgiveness for others and yourself, and have faith in God first of all.  Jesus tells us that IF....BIG IF....you PRAY....and BELIEVE....you WILL HAVE IT.  It's not about more faith, it's about more BELIEF.  And how do you believe more?  By reading the Word of God....knowing what he and Jesus have to say on the matters of life.  Paul says in Romans 10:17, 'Yet faith comes from listening to this message of Good News - the Good News about Christ.'   And in John 15 we learn from Jesus, "Oh, there is so much more I want to tell you, but you can't bear it all now.  When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth.  He will not be presenting his own ideas, he will be telling you what he has heard.  He will tell you about the future.  He will bring me glory by revealing to you whatever he receives from me.  All that the Father has is mine; this is what I mean when I say that he Spirit will reveal to you whatever he receives from me."  So you see, all we need to do is believe in God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit, ask them into our liveshave faith as small as a mustard seed, PRAY, BELIEVE without doubt in our heart, forgive others, AND ask forgiveness for our sins.  But there is a wee bit more.....

Jesus tells us in the next paragraph that we must dutifully obey.  He gives us a story about a servant, let me tell it again.

How can we prepare a meal for our Master, God, and serve him first?  What would God consider good food?  Perhaps hearing us speak his word back to him?  And in serving him first, could you and I start the day with him?  Could you and I come in from work, or at the end of day, and spend some time listening to him, reading his word, if we cannot hear his voice (Yes, there will come a time when you will be able to hear his voice, if you don't already.....and listen!....as Jesus said.).  Perhaps he'd like to hear us read to him.  Certainly he wants us to talk to him in conversation.  And then address our personal concerns and our family's in preparing a meal for them.

Jesus alerts us that servants are not usually thanked because it is doing the job....that we are supposed to do.  What ARE we supposed to do?  Listen!  And obey.  Jesus says, "In the same way, when you obey me......".  Note the word 'when'.  He doesn't say 'if', 'maybe you would consider' or 'have you thought about', he says, 'WHEN.....you OBEY.  Again, he didn't say, you might consider obeying me', or 'in case you haven't noticed, it might be in your best interest if you obey'.  He just made it an emphatic statement:  "When you obey" him.  Then he goes on to say, "....you SHOULD say, 'We are not worthy of praise.  We are servants who have simply done our duty.'

Is this life a thankless job?  No.  Don't think for a minute that God, Jesus or Holy Spirit are going to deny you their gratitude.  You may not hear the words 'thank you', certainly as we've learned here we should not expect to be thanked for doing our job.  But they are grateful.  And if we are doing our job, we will be rewarded.  We may not see it manifested in this lifetime....or we might.  But we will certainly see it manifested in the next lifetime.  That's right....the one we diligently give such loving gratitude for: our  eternal lifetime.   Are you willing to do your duty....obey God, Jesus, Holy Spirit?  Will you be 'children of the living God'?  Romans 9:26.

Paul kind of sums up todays lesson in Galatians 6:  "Dear brothers and sisters, if another Christian is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path.  And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.  Share each other's troubles and problems, and in this way obey the law of Christ.  If you think you are too important to help someone in need, you are only fooling yourself.  You are really a nobody.

"Be sure to do what you should, for then you will enjoy the personal satisfaction of having done your work well, and you won't need to compare yourself to anyone else.  For we are each responsible for our own conduct.

"Those who are taught the word of God should help their teachers by paying them.

"Don't be misled.  Remember that you can't ignore God and get away with it.  You will always reap what you sow!  Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful desires will harvest the consequences of decay and death. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.  So don't get tired of doing what is good.  Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.  Whenever we have the opportunity we should do good to everyone especially to our Christian brothers and sisters."  Thank you, God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, and, Paul, Mark and John.

And the people said, "Amen!"

Let Us Pray

Dear God, Jesus and Holy Spirit, please don't think for a minute that you are not dear to me....you are most certainly.  I know that I do not always show you how much I love you and how grateful I am for who you are, that you are, and how wonderful you are.  Please forgive me.  Please forgive me for all the grudges I've held and release them from me....all of them.  Please help those who've sinned against me and forgive them....some of them know not what they do.  Help me to forgive them, too.  Forgive me for all sins I've committed on any level at any time in my life.  I've never professed perfection....but I've tried to walk as you've walked.  I must be doing something right based on all the flack I get for loving you and living with you within me.  As I continue to attempt to share your joy, I am squashed.  As I continue to seek new steps on the ladder of life, rise above life's situations, I am beaten back.  I refuse to be daunted.  Even those professing you are dismissing me.  They hear what they want to hear, not what you want them to hear.  They see what they want to see, not what you are giving them.  I am not worthy of praise, but you are.  Yet a door has yet to be opened fully for you....through me.  Open the doors wide, Lord.  And let your glory shine!  I am a powerhouse for you, Lord.  And I am certainly ready to follow your lead.  Be it at the helm or in the bowels of the endeavor, I am yours, Lord.  Lead me on.  I am excited about the great ideas you've given me, now help me to implement them for success.  Success measured on a basic level by bills getting paid, the ability to give back to you what is yours with gratitude, and help others, as well.  Father God, I do not know the road before me, but you do.  I may not be pleasing you in all the ways you need me to, but I believe that the fact I am attempting to do so, does in fact please you.  And I am very grateful, and earnestly seek to please you in any way I can.  Father God, show me the words to say to those who need rebuke.  May they be gentle loving words, not flippant angry words, which I still have on the edge of my heart, despite asking for and receiving forgiveness from you.  I guess I have more work to do to forgive others.  Forgive me more, please, Father.  Thank you.  Regarding my faith, Lord, I do believe.  I have a huge well of belief and faith.  It's just that every so often a crack appears attempting to seep out a little at a time.  Shore up the walls of my faith, my intermittent sorrow filled unbelief.  I know I should not focus on how I feel, or whether something has been manifested or not.  After all, Jesus, the fig tree you rebuked didn't die 'til the next morning.  And it was YOU rebuking it!  I do understand that things in life are not evolving in MY time, but in yours.  It doesn't make it any easier some days, Lord.  And I appreciate it that when I mess up, you are still there to catch me, so I WON'T I fall.  Thank you beyond measure for that.  And puh-lease would you get Satan back into hell and out of my life?!  He's a greater pain than even I give him credit, however, I do not want to give him any credit, quite frankly.  I would just be grateful if you would hussle him off anywhere, but in my face daily.  Thanks....a lot!  May I also learn to measure with a prosperity stick, rather than a poverty stick, as Kenneth Copeland says.  I do have a tendency to live with expectant faith.  The world might call it delusional at times.....laugh....but they don't know you like I do.  They have not experienced the miracles in their lives as I have in mine.....thank you for the miracles you have wrought in my life!  Oh, Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit, how I wish the world knew you like I do.  How I wish I knew you, God, Jesus, Holy Spirit even more.....and I intend to.  May everyday with you be an embrace in my heart with you.  I love you so much and I am grateful for so much.  Help me be quick to 'listen!' so to obey you timely, and not miss any more steps on this journey called life.  I want to follow you more nearly, and love you more dearly day by day, as the song goes.  Like money, time needs to be tithed to you the same way, if you and I are to expect results from one another.  BIG IF.  So help me get on the right track going forward, pressing toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God....eternal life with you.  Holy Spirit come into my life with the fullness of all you have to give and share with me, so I might learn everything I need to learn, to do all I need to do to.  Show me how I can best help you and myself. Thank you.  I love you. Amen.

THANK YOU, GOD!

Dear God,

I want to thank You for what you have already done.

I am not going to wait until I see results or receive rewards;

I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until I feel better or things look better;

I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until people say they are sorry or until they stop talking about me;

I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until the pain in my body disappears;

I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until my financial situation improves;

I am going to thank you right now.

I am not going to wait until the children are asleep and the house is quiet;

I am going to thank you right now.

I am not going to wait until I get promoted at work or until I get the job;

I am going to thank you right now.

I am not going to wait until I understand every experience in my life that has caused me pain or grief;

I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until the journey gets easier or the challenges are removed;

I am thanking you right now.

I am thanking you because I am alive.

I am thanking you because I made it through the days difficulties.

I am thanking you because I have walked around the obstacles.

I am thanking you because I have the ability and the opportunity to do more and do better.

I'm thanking you because, Father, You haven't given up on me.

Amen.

  Our Current Cause

It is time to reach into the community and the world around you to see wherein lies the greatest need.  As you choose to focus on these areas, do so with a servant's heart.  Whether the need is for children, adults, or animals, or any cause in between that will help those in need, ask God how you can best serve his needs, what path you must take, and how long you should persevere.  Sometimes we are to be in the lives of others merely as stepping stones.  Sometimes we are to touch those lives forever.  Whatever journey you are called to take, whatever team you will be a member, know this:  God is with you always...even til the end of time.  He loves you, is grateful for you, and will help you along life's way, especially if you are helping others along theirs, persevering with a servant's heart.

Please accept my sincerest thanks....and God's....and may God richly bless you!

    One last thing....

 Jesus' Prayer of Thanksgiving

'The Unforced Rhythms of Grace'

"Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer:  "Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth.  You've concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people.  Yes, Father, that's the way you like to work."

Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly.  "The Father has given me all these things to do and say.  This is a unique Father - Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge.  No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does.  But I'm not keeping it to myself; I'm ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen."

"Are you tired?  Worn out?  Burned out on religion?  Come to me.  Get away with me and you'll recover your life.  I'll show you how to take a real rest.  Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it.  Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.  I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn how to live freely and lightly.

  The Message

And the people said,

"Amen."

I now write most prayers in the position of ' I ' (first person) because most people are sitting at their computer alone, not in groups, and it allows those reading and praying to personalize the prayer as coming from them going to God.  Variations may appear on holidays when families may wish to use the prayer provided.  I encourage you to pray your own prayers as well.

NOTE:  I said it long ago, but let me say it again.  If you are wanting to lead a group, start a church, or are confined in an institution, or live in a country where the Gospel is not preached, and you don't know what to say or how to say it, and yet feel led to share, teach, or preach, besides just reading straight out of the Bible, please feel free to share any or all of what I've written, as long as you include where it comes from, due to copyright laws.  Jesus gave God's love and healing freely, as well as his message.  Our responsibility is to get the Word out to those who need to hear it.  If what I've written....by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit....or what he has said through me....has helped you, it may help others that you know.  You are welcome to share it.  God calls all of us to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the world.  Please share it with the fullness of love that God, Jesus, Holy Spirit....and I....have given it.  Amen!
