   Who We Are

The Church of the Holy Spirit is a Christian church.

We believe in God the Father, Jesus the Son
and
Holy Spirit the Comforter and Teacher.

We believe that God made the heavens and the earth,
and gave all creatures His son, Jesus,
who died on the cross to forgive our sins
 and
to give us eternal life.

We believe Jesus went to heaven, he is now seated at God’s right hand,
 and
that God gave us Holy Spirit to teach, comfort, and guide us.

We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God.

***

Who are God, Jesus and Holy Spirit?

God is our heavenly Father who created heaven and earth.  He gave us His Son, who died on a cross to allow our sins to be forgiven and give us eternal life becoming our Lord and Savior.  When Jesus died, Holy Spirit was made available to us to comfort, teach and guide us.

God in the beginning:  Genesis 1:1
Jesus:  Matthew 1, 2 & 3
Holy Spirit:  John 15:26

Are you one with God, Jesus and Holy Spirit?

If you have not accepted the Trinity into your life and you would like to, pray this prayer or use your own words from your heart:

“Dear Heavenly Father God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit, please forgive me of my sins known and unknown.  Please come into my life, heal me and make me whole.  Give me a new life in and with you.  I wish to receive all that you have to give.  Baptize me in the fullness of your Holy Spirit, so that I can learn all I can about you to love you, and others, as you love me.  So I can love myself.  Thank you for giving me this new life.  Please send other Christians to surround me to help me grow and be strong to defeat Satan and the things of the world.  Help me to be worthy of your love.  Thank you God, Jesus and Holy Spirit.  In Jesus name I pray by and with the power of the Holy Spirit, dear Heavenly Father God.  Amen.”

***

If you have prayed this prayer, please email us at TrinityMissions@msn.com, so we can agree with you in prayer, praise God, and uplift you with prayer support.  We are thrilled to welcome you into the family of believers and encourage you to find a church home nearby where you can study, grow and fellowship with others.  Someone may need your support as much as you need them.  We are commanded to come together in fellowship to worship His majesty.

If you choose to fellowship with us via the web, we are honored to welcome you to the Church of the Holy Spirit.  We pray you will be enriched and uplifted in the fullness of the Trinity to their glory.  Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing from time to time.  As the website grows, we will have a special page for this purpose, and, you will be able to list prayers for all to see, so that we may come together as a body of believers, for ‘wherever two or more shall gather, there will I be.’   Don’t forget to send prayers of thanksgiving, as well as petitions of tears.

You are who I call ‘The Promise Children’, as in Romans 9:25-26 NLT:

“Those who were not my people, I will now call my people.  And I will love those whom I did not love before.  And, once they were told, ‘You are not my people.’  But now he will say, ‘You are children of the living God.”

***

“The Kingdom of God is near you now.”

The Apostle Paul gave us a “Prayer for Spiritual Empowerment” in Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT.  It reads

“When I think of the wisdom and scope of God’s plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.  And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.  May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now glory be to God!  By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.  May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages.  Amen.”

Jesus told us to remain in his love in John 15:9-13 NLT:

“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me.  Remain in my love.  When you obey me, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father and remain in his love.  I have told you this so that you will be filled with my joy.  Yes, your joy will overflow!  I command you to love each other in the same way that I love you.  And here is how to measure it - the greatest love is shown when people lay down their lives for their friends."

It's Not Over

Luke 2: 21 - 40

Luke

Eight days later, when the baby was circumcised, he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel even before he was conceived.

Then it was time for the purification offering required by the law of Moses after the birth of a child, so his parents took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord.  The law of the Lord says, "If a woman's first child is a boy, he must be dedicated to the Lord".  So they offered a sacrifice according to what was required in the law of the Lord - "either a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons."

Now there was a man named Simeon who lived in Jerusalem.  He was a righteous man and very devout.  He was filled with the Holy Spirit, and he eagerly expected the Messiah to come and rescue Israel.  The Holy Spirit had revealed to him that he would not die until he had seen the Lords' Messiah.  That day the Spirit led him to the Temple.  So when Mary and Joseph came to present the baby Jesus to the Lord as the law required, Simeon was there.  He took the child in his arms and praised God, saying, "Lord, now I can die in peace!  As you promised me, I have seen the Savior you have given to all people.  He is a light to reveal God to the nations, and he is the glory of your people Israel!"

Joseph and Mary were amazed at what was being said about Jesus.  Then Simeon blessed them, and he said to Mary, "This child will be rejected by many in Israel, and it will be their undoing.  But he will be the greatest joy to many others. Thus, the deepest thoughts of many hearts will be revealed.  And a sword will pierce your very soul."

Anna, a prophet, was also there in the Temple.  She was the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher, and was very old.  She was a widow, for her husband had died when they had been married only seven years.  She was now eighty four years old.  She never left the Temple but stayed there day and night, worshiping God with fasting and prayer.  She came along just as Simeon was talking with Mary and Joseph, and she began praising God.  She talked about Jesus to everyone who had been waiting for the promised King to come and deliver Jerusalem.

When Jesus' parents had fulfilled all the requirements of the law of the Lord, they returned home to Nazareth in Galilee.  There the child grew up healthy and strong.  He was filled with wisdom beyond his years, and God placed his special favor upon him.

Thoughts.....

Happy New Year!  I pray this year will be the year promises are fulfilled, dreams come true, and you hold Jesus closely in your heart.  May loving him be your greatest joy.

As we open scripture today, we are starting 8 days after Jesus' birth.  Jewish law required circumcision, purification, and dedication, all of which are described in the first 2 paragraphs.  See Exodus 13:2 and Leviticus 12:8.  Circumcision is a ceremonial procedure for the baby, purification is for the mother.  The dedication is done to dedicate the baby, Jesus, to a life with God.  In churches today, this is either a baptismal event or a dedication event, followed by confirmation or baptism later when a child can verbally state their intent to follow Jesus.  In the former, Jewish tradition is followed.  The latter follows the Gentile way of life.  In todays world, Catholics and the mainline churches such as Lutheran, Episcopal and Methodist follow Jewish tradition, whereas the majority of the rest of the Christians follow the Gentile tradition.  You can look at is as some follow Peter's ways, some the ways of Paul.

Paragraph 3 is prophecy fulfilled with Jesus, the Messiah, being born.  The Old Testament prophecy is fulfilled in the New Testament birth of Jesus.  We've learned, and it is interesting to note, that Jesus' parents followed God's law to the letter, listened to the Holy Spirit, and angels of God.  Simeon followed the law and listened closely to the leadings of the Holy Spirit, as well.  Are you filled with the Holy Spirit and do you listen to him, God, Jesus?  Simeon eagerly expected that prayers and prophecy would be fulfilled.  Do you eagerly expect answers to your prayers?  Has prophecy been fulfilled for your life?

Can you say as Simeon did, "Lord, now I can die in peace!  As you promised me, I have seen the Savior you have given to all people. He is a light to reveal God to the nations, and he is the glory of your people Israel."?  He was given to you......he can be your light....he is the glory for you.....and awaits your words to invite him into your life.  You've only to say "come".

The next paragraph...number 4....tells us that Joseph and Mary were amazed at what was being said about Jesus.  Are you amazed?  Jesus will be your greatest joy.  You're joy will be complete, when you invite Jesus to be born in your heart.  Don't reject him.  It will be your undoing, just as it has been for those in Israel who have rejected him believing their Messiah would not be born in a stable, but born as a king.  He is a king....THE King.   Make him King of your heart today....call him Savior AND Lord.

In verse 35, Simeon was prophesying the writing of the New Testament, the many scrolls, all those writings yet to be found.  He was prophesying about the deepest thoughts of those accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord, those who sat at his feet and those who stood in the crowds, those who read his word now, as many as would receive him.....and be healed.  Have you read the thoughts of many in the New Testament?  The Dead Sea Scrolls, the Gnostic Gospels....anything pertaining to Jesus, his birth, life, and resurrection?  Have you revealed your deepest thoughts to Jesus?  Are you ready to be saved.....healed?

"And a sword will pierce your very soul."  This was prophecy of the death of Jesus when his side was pierced as he hung on the cross.  A reminder of what you do to him every day that you have not said, "Come".  Every day, every time you, and I, sin.

The paragraph about Anna, blows my mind.  Anna was eighty four years old and never....NEVER....left the Temple.  She stayed there day and night worshiping God with fasting and prayer.  Unbelievable....yet true.  Do you give a minute a day to worshiping God?  Do you fast and pray ONE minute?!  One minute.  Think about that.  Oh, you and I can say we fast for one minute because we do not eat every minute.  But do you dedicate even one minute....offer yourself....and pray to God for ONE WHOLE minute during that time of fasting?   I think we are all sorely lacking....failing God....who gave us life.

I pray to God.  I thank God.  I pray for others.  I pray earnestly, sadly, joyfully, mournfully.  But I need to pray worshipfully more.  Reverently.  I'm guessing you do, too.  It's one thing to praise God joyfully in church or in the kitchen.  But we as a people of believers need to worship him reverently more.  Has he brought you to your knees emotionally, mentally, physically, financially, spiritually?  Then go....go to him.....worship him....give him all honor and glory.  Offer up your sins, your omissions.  Offer up your praise.  Bring to the table of mercy honor and glory for him.  Bow down and raise him up.  He then will raise you up....on eagle's wings and you WILL soar.

The last paragraph of todays scripture informs us that Joseph and Mary fulfilled all the requirements of Jewish law.  We do not need to follow Jewish law.  We need to follow Jesus.  We are no longer under legalistic structured spiritual laws.  Now we are under the laws of love.  From the love that God gave us in giving us his son, Jesus, and the love that Jesus gave us when he answered God's call, accepted him, followed him, and died on a cross for us.  We've also been shown the kind of love for God,  when Mary said 'yes', receiving the news from the angel, receiving the Holy Spirit.  And when Joseph said 'yes' to bring Mary honor and raise his son.  When Simeon said 'yes' in believing, never giving up, and worshiping God.  And Anna said 'yes' in never giving up her post at God's feet in loving, believing, never giving up, and worshiping God.

You, and I, are to love, believe, never give up, and worship God and Jesus.  It is fundamental and necessary to say 'yes' to God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit.  Then, like Jesus, we, too, will be filled with wisdom beyond our years, and God will place is special favor upon us.

At the beginning of this new year, take the time to consider what GOD really wants for your life and whether you will say 'yes' to him.  If you choose to say 'yes', bow down and worship the ever living ever loving God who gave you life.  MAKE those minutes in your day to spend time with the Trinity.  Schedule God into your busy calendar....make him first priority.... as he has made you.  Worship him.  When you do, you will find a love so pure, so precious, so fulfilling.  The last year may be over, but don't let your relationship end with God.  Start it anew.  Embrace him as you never have before.  Make this new year your best year ever in his arms.

Jesus is a light to reveal God to the nations.....if he is in you....and he needs you to now go forth sharing him with others.

Jesus is the glory for the people of Israel and all in the world.  That means you....he is glory for you....bring glory to him.

Let Us Pray

God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, thank you.  Help me get my priorities straight....let it begin with you.  Help me to awaken with you in my heart and thoughts, and go to sleep the same way.  Help me to use that time, and numerous times throughout the day to worship and adore you....reverently with love.  Let me not just praise you when things are going right, but when they go wrong, too.  I've learned through scripture to give thanks IN everything, not for, or with, or because, but IN.  No matter the circumstance.  Help me do that better.  Help me realize that you are always there for me.  Help me be always there for you.  Lord God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, help me make this year the one that you are born anew in my heart and in my life.  Let me devote my life to you and devote prayers to you.  Not just because I want something, or I am grateful thanking you, but prayers of devotion to bring you honor and glory.  Let's talk about your life instead of always talking about mine.  Let's spend more time together...time I dedicate to learning more about who you are and how wonderful you are....let it begin with me....because I know you are always there.  Thank you.  So, God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, I adore you.  I am grateful for you.  That you are in my life.  I know you created the world, and you created my world.  I know Jesus how you wer born, and died and how you lived for a few years of your life.  I'd like to know more about you and Holy Spirit.  Help me to learn, so that I can bring you honor and glory as I go about my day.  Help me to learn, so that I can share who you are, that you are and how wonderful you are with others.  I bow down before you.  May I bring you peace for a change by living my life right this year, following your lead, not mine.  Let me not be fooled into thinking I am going in the right direction just because I think it is the right direction.  Let me know by listening to you and by confirmation from your word in the Bible.  Let us together make all things new between us, start a fresh journey, and work together to bring others to you.  It is what we are all called to do.....be ministers for you.  So, God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, as I start this renewed journey, may I bow down, get on my knees, lie on my face, raise up my arms, and sing aloud songs and prayers to you to bring you honor and glory.  I reverently worship and thank you now.....may I do it forever.  Amen.

More love....

  Benediction....Blessing

Let us hear from Paul as he prays:

When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.  And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.  May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.

Amen.  Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT

If you feel that the Church of the Holy Spirit has inspired or helped you, we'd like you to prayerfully consider tithing regularly to us or gifting us, so that we can further the work and carry out the will of the Father as proclaimed in Matthew 28:19-20 NLT

 to

"Go and make disciples out of all the nations

baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.  And be sure of this:

I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

  Our Current Cause

It is time to reach into the community and the world around you to see wherein lies the greatest need.  As you choose to focus on these areas, do so with a servant's heart.  Whether the need is for children, adults, or animals, or any cause in between that will help those in need, ask God how you can best serve his needs, what path you must take, and how long you should persevere.  Sometimes we are to be in the lives of others merely as stepping stones.  Sometimes we are to touch those lives forever.  Whatever journey you are called to take, whatever team you will be a member, know this:  God is with you always...even til the end of time.  He loves you, is grateful for you, and will help you along life's way, especially if you are helping others along theirs, persevering with a servant's heart.

Please accept my sincerest thanks....and God's....and may God richly bless you!

    One last thing....

 Jesus' Prayer of Thanksgiving

'The Unforced Rhythms of Grace'

"Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer:  "Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth.  You've concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people.  Yes, Father, that's the way you like to work."

Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly.  "The Father has given me all these things to do and say.  This is a unique Father - Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge.  No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does.  But I'm not keeping it to myself; I'm ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen."

"Are you tired?  Worn out?  Burned out on religion?  Come to me.  Get away with me and you'll recover your life.  I'll show you how to take a real rest.  Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it.  Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.  I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn how to live freely and lightly.

  Matthew 11:  25-30

  The Message

And the people said,

"Amen."

I now write most prayers in the position of ' I ' (first person) because most people are sitting at their computer alone, not in groups, and it allows those reading and praying to personalize the prayer as coming from them going to God.  Variations may appear on holidays when families may wish to use the prayer provided.
