 Who We Are

The Church of the Holy Spirit is a Christian church.

We believe in God the Father, Jesus the Son
and
Holy Spirit the Comforter, Teacher and Healer.

We believe that God made the heavens and the earth,
and gave all creatures His son, Jesus,
who died on the cross to forgive our sins
 and
to give us eternal life.

We believe Jesus went to heaven, he is now seated at God’s right hand,
 and
that God gave us Holy Spirit to teach, comfort, and guide us.

We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God.

***

Who are God, Jesus and Holy Spirit?

God is our heavenly Father who created heaven and earth.  He gave us His Son, who died on a cross to allow our sins to be forgiven and give us eternal life becoming our Lord and Savior.  When Jesus died, Holy Spirit was made available to us to comfort, teach and guide us.

God in the beginning:  Genesis 1:1
Jesus:  Matthew 1, 2 & 3
Holy Spirit:  John 15:26

Are you one with God, Jesus and Holy Spirit?

If you have not accepted the Trinity into your life and you would like to, pray this prayer or use your own words from your heart:

“Dear Heavenly Father God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit, please forgive me of my sins known and unknown.  Please come into my life, heal me and make me whole.  Give me a new life in and with you.  I wish to receive all that you have to give.  Baptize me in the fullness of your Holy Spirit, so that I can learn all I can about you to love you, and others, as you love me.  So I can love myself.  Thank you for giving me this new life.  Please send other Christians to surround me to help me grow and be strong to defeat Satan and the things of the world.  Help me to be worthy of your love.  Thank you God, Jesus and Holy Spirit.  In Jesus name I pray by and with the power of the Holy Spirit, dear Heavenly Father God.  Amen.”

***

If you have prayed this prayer, please email us at TrinityMissions@msn.com, so we can agree with you in prayer, praise God, and uplift you with prayer support.  We are thrilled to welcome you into the family of believers and encourage you to find a church home nearby where you can study, grow and fellowship with others.  Someone may need your support as much as you need them.  We are commanded to come together in fellowship to worship His majesty.

If you choose to fellowship with us via the web, we are honored to welcome you to the Church of the Holy Spirit.  We pray you will be enriched and uplifted in the fullness of the Trinity to their glory.  Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing from time to time.  As the website grows, we will have a special page for this purpose, and, you will be able to list prayers for all to see, so that we may come together as a body of believers, for ‘wherever two or more shall gather, there will I be.’   Don’t forget to send prayers of thanksgiving, as well as petitions of tears.

You are who I call ‘The Promise Children’, as in Romans 9:25-26 NLT:

“Those who were not my people, I will now call my people.  And I will love those whom I did not love before.  And, once they were told, ‘You are not my people.’  But now he will say, ‘You are children of the living God.”

***

“The Kingdom of God is near you now.”

The Apostle Paul gave us a “Prayer for Spiritual Empowerment” in Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT.  It reads

“When I think of the wisdom and scope of God’s plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.  And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.  May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now glory be to God!  By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.  May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages.  Amen.”

Jesus told us to remain in his love in John 15:9-13 NLT:

“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me.  Remain in my love.  When you obey me, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father and remain in his love.  I have told you this so that you will be filled with my joy.  Yes, your joy will overflow!  I command you to love each other in the same way that I love you.  And here is how to measure it - the greatest love is shown when people lay down their lives for their friends.”

 Hebrews 4:1-16

Rest

 ***

Hebrews

God's promise of entering his place of rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to get there.  For this Good News--that God has prepared a place of rest--has been announced to us just as it was to them.  But it did them no good because they didn't believe what God told them.  For only we who believe can enter his place of rest.  As for those who didn't believe, God said, "In my anger I made a vow; 'they will never enter my place of rest,'" even though his place of rest has been ready since he made the world.  We know it is ready because the Scriptures mention the seventh day, saying, "On the seventh day God rested from all his work."  So God's rest is there for people to enter.  But those who formerly heard the Good News failed to enter because they disobeyed God.  So God set another for entering his place of rest, and that time is today.  God announced this through David a long time later in the words already quoted:  "Today you must listen to his voice.  Don't harden your hearts against him."  This new place of rest was not the land of Canaan, where Joshua led them.  If it had been, God would not have spoken later about another day of rest.  So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God.  For all who enter into God's rest will find rest from their labors, just as God rested after creating the world.  Let us do our best to enter that place of rest.  For anyone who disobeys God, as the people of Israel did, will fail.

For the word of God is full of living power.  It is sharper than the sharpest knife, cutting deep into our innermost thoughts and desires.  It exposes us for what we really are.  Nothing in all creation can hide from him.  Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes.  This is the God to whom we must explain all that we have done.

That is why we have a great Hight Priest who has gone to heaven, Jesus the Son of God.  Let us cling to him and never stop trusting him.  This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same temptations we do, yet he did not sin.  So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God.  There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it.

Thoughts...

"Today you must listen to his voice.  Don't harden your hearts against him."

Listen to God.  To GOD.  Not spouse, friend, neighbor....GOD.  He is trying to speak to you.  Are you in a crisis?  Get on your knees.  Are you in trouble, sick, ailing, sad?  Get on your knees.  And listen.  Don't just talk.  Communication requires TWO people.  In this case, you and God.  IF you speak, he gets to speak, too.  Don't just blurt out your prayers and then go on your way .... 'harden your hearts'.  Spend time with God, wait for him to answer you.  If he says nothing, you have not given him time to answer.  The man is busy running the world.  YOU are not the center of it.  Do not decide that he has not answered you and make a decision based on your inability to take the time to listen for his answer or your choice to decide thinking you know better than he.  Realize, also, there are times he expects you to use your own judgement and wisdom from him.  Note:  I said 'from him'.  If you are making decisions for your life based on the worlds ways, or your own biased opinions, do not expect to give him glory or you to obtain success.  Get into the Bible and know who he is .. .all about him, so that when you are making a decision, it will be based on foundational insight.  You will know his mind, desire to receive him into your innermost being.  Be one with him as you call him to come.  As Jesus said he and the Father were one, you, too, can be one with the Father.  Call on God today.  Go "boldly to the throne of our gracious God."

"God's promise of entering his place of rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to get there."  The directive and God's fulfilled promise requires us to believe and obey.  In believing we obey.  Or by obeying we believe.  What is stopping some of you?  Control?  You want to be the authority over your life?  Why?  What are you gaining?  Have you looked at all you can lose by being the 'all powerful Oz', so to speak?  Jesus gained the whole world by bringing God the glory.  Jesus made it about God...the other person....a classic example for that which you've heard, "It is in giving that we receive."  If you keep taking ... control ... you will lose your life and everything in it.  Your life is a blessing that God wants to give you.  If you keep saying, 'what about me?', it will be all about you.  And only you and no one and nothing else.  He will take you to your knees.  He may take you out of this life for good.

Are others around you trying to love you and you are not listening and don't want to receive?  Are you lacking in trust?  Are you wanting to do things your way to get what you want?  Are you demanding people wait on you hand and foot?  Are you pitying your situation because you can't get out or you can't get up?  Are you demanding things be done in your time instead of his?  And wondering why things aren't happening more timely?  Picture this:  You are now alone .... on an island .... in the middle of nowhere .... with no one and nothing.  Don't like the water?  Great....pick a star.  Now what are you going to do?  Who's going to do for you now?  Who is left in your life?  Stop idealizing.  Stop idolizing .... yourself.    There is NO rest in yourself.  You are now filled with total unrest and fear and trembling with no one to turn to and nowhere to turn.  But with God, who is still there, IF he will open his arms to you now...there is rest.  "There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it."

God's promise of entering his place of rest still stands.  Today you must listen to his voice.  Go boldly to the throne of our gracious God.  There you will receive his mercy and find the grace to help you when you need it.

"What is faith?  It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen.  It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see."   Hebrews 4:1

"And the Holy Spirit helps us in our distress.  For we don't even know what we should pray for, nor how we should pray.  But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.  And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God's own will.  And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."  Romans 8:26-28

God's purpose, folks, not ours.  Keep your eye on the prize....Jesus.

Let Us Pray

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on me.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on me.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the work, grant me your peace.

Behold the Lamb of God!

I am not worthy to receive you, but just say the word, and I shall be healed.

Lamb of God, I groan...

Holy Spirit...plead for me before my Father in Heaven....

God...come.

I am ready to receive you now...heal me, please.

I want a life of harmony and rest.  Not to escape, but to find the peace to do your will....your will, God, not mine.

I have committed myself to this life that I have chosen.  But nothing is going my way.  I'm not sure I want to be a part of this life anymore.  Remove from me the spirit of selfishness.  Help me to find harmony and rest and peace.  Give me the desire to fulfill my committments with love and grace and mercy.  Help me to love right again.  First you.  Create in me a desire to be selfless.  So that I may love others as you love them ... .as you love me.  Let me love my children equally, as you love your children.  Let me see my spouse as you see them.  Let me see myself as you see me now, to help me realize how I am acting with others.  Bring me to my knees in awareness.  And then forgive me ... and heal me ... .and help others forgive me, too.  I hurt, I am in severe emotional and physical pain.  My body is actually dying from lack of life that only you can give it.  Oh, God, please, make my life right, so that I can live a long time on this earth.  To love ... and give .... you ... and hope ...and share your promises of rest.  Help me rest in and with you.  Oh, Father, forgive me.  Heal me now!  Thank you, Father, God of Heaven and earth ... and me.  Thank you, Jesus, and Holy Spirit.  Thank you eternally.  I love you.  Amen

  Our NEW Current Cause

My family and I, and the church, are in crisis and could desperately use your prayers and financial support.  Due to medical concerns, employment crisis, and economic devastation,  I do not have funding to meet everyday expenses right now for the church, or home, nor those necessary to keep this website afloat for those shut-in or needing spiritual support, nor the ability to help others along the way.  But I am confident that, with your help, balance can be achieved.  As God touches your heart, I hope you will pray earnestly for the church, my family and me, and send any amount of money you can to help.  Please note 'Church and Family' on your check, and, I will see that all funds get divided appropriately.  The church, I and my family, as well as to those to whom we reach out, will be sincerely grateful for anything you can do to help.

Please accept my sincerest thanks....and may God bless you!

  One last thing....

Jesus' Prayer of Thanksgiving

'The Unforced Rythms of Grace'

"Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer:  "Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth.  You've concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people.  Yes, Father, that's the way you like to work."

Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly.  "The Father has given me all these things to do and say.  This is a unique Father - Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge.  No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does.  But I'm not keeping it to myself; I'm ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen."

"Are you tired?  Worn out?  Burned out on religion?  Come to me.  Get away with me and you'll recover your life.  I'll show you how to take a real rest.  Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it.  Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.  I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn how to live freely and lightly.

Matthew 11:  25-30

  The Message

And the people said,

"Amen."

I now write most prayers in the position of ' I ' (first person) because most people are sitting at their computer alone, not in groups, and it allows those reading and praying to personalize the prayer as coming from them going to God.  Variations may appear on holidays when families may wish to use the prayer provided.
