Nothing Can Separate Us From God's Love

August 10, 2008

What can we say about such wonderful things as these?  If God is for us, who can ever be against us?  Since God did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else?

Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own?  Will God?  No!  He is the one who has given us right standing with himself.  Who then will condemn us?  Will Christ Jesus?  No, for he is the one who died for us and was raised to life for us and is sitting at the place of highest honor next to God, pleading for us.

Can anything ever separate us from Christ's love?  Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or are hungry or cold or in danger or threatened with death?  (Even the Scriputres say, "For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.")  No, despite all these things, overwhelmeing victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separte us from his love.  Death can't and life can't.  The angels can't and the demons can't.  Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away.

Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Psalm 100

NLT

Shout with joy to the LORD, O earth!

Worship the LORD with gladness.  Come before him, singing with joy.

Acknowledge that the LORD is God!  He made us, and we are his.  We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise.  Give thanks to him and bless his name.

For the LORD is good.  His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.

Please know that Paul is talking to Christians.  If you have not received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, please read the first part of the Church of the Holy Spirit page and pray for your salvation, asking God to forgive you of your sins and give you eternal life.  Then, act as a Christian.  You'll learn how, as you read the Bible, pray, listen to the Trinity, grow, and study with us.  We welcome and embrace you!  And realize, that although God, Jesus and Holy Spirit will always love us and although nothing can separate us from their love, true love guides us and corrects us to help us grow and learn the paths of love and righteousness.  And being loved is not the same as being in his grace and receiving eternal life.  Be not dismayed.  But receive the fullness of love.

THOUGHTS.....

These scriptures are addressed to Christians and people wanting to know what Christian life is all about.  Christians obey God and are worthy of his name.  Not all who call themselves Christians will enter heaven, only those that obey God.  You can say you are saved, that you have prayed the prayer of salvation, but if you do not walk in the light of Christ doing his will, you are at eternal risk of death.  Is salvation freely given?  Yes.  Does God always love you?  Yes.  Will you be guaranteed a spot in heaven because of this?  No.  Be forewarned.  Make the right choices.  Learn who he is, that he is, and how wonderful he is.  Then learn what you are supposed to be doing to insure your salvation.  Do not just listen to what I and others say.  Research it for yourself by looking in the Bible in the New Testament where Jesus' truths are layed out for all to see.  And pray....that your heart and your eyes will be opened.  And pray that God will show you HIS way...the only way to live to insure you get to heaven.

"The Benefits of Wisdom"

My child, listen to me and treasure my instructions. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight and understanding. Search for them as you would for lost money or hidden treasure. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God. For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of good sense to the godly. He is their shield, protecting those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of justice and protects those who are faithful to him.

Then you will understand what is right, just and fair, and you will know how to find the right course of action every time. For wisdom will enter your heart and knowledge will fill you with joy. Wise planning will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.

Wisdom will save you from evil people, from those whose speech is corrupt. These people turn from right ways to walk down dark and evil paths. They rejoice in doing wrong, and they enjoy evil as it turns things upside down. What they do is crooked, and their ways are wrong.

Wisdom will save you from the immoral woman, from the flattery of the adulterous woman. She has abandoned her husband and ignores the covenant she made before God. Entering her house leads to death; it is the road to hell. The man who visits her is doomed. He will never reach the paths of life.

Follow the steps of good men instead, and stay on the paths of the righteous. For only the upright will live in the land and those who have integrity will remain in it. But the wicked will be removed from the land, and the treacherous will be destroyed.

Proverbs 1:1-22 NLT

Please understand that at the time the scriptures were written, it was tradition to teach the men as head of household and they in turn would teach the women.  It was a suppressive society, as far as women were concerned.  The New Testament brought about a change.  We are now all equal.  So, as you study, when it says, like above, to follow good men, we can now interpret that to mean we should follow the steps of all good people, and stay on the paths of righteousness.  But, understand, that although it gives a directive to men to stay away from the immoral woman, immoral woman...be no more...and you shall not be doomed either.

Indeed, seek wisdom.  Don't just talk to God about what you need.  Ash him what he needs.  As he loves us and does for us...let us show him how much we love him by obeying him, loving others, and doing for him and others as he commands.  And let us worship the risen Lord as one!  Alleluia!

A Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father God, Jesus, Holy Spirit.  Let us come before you with praise and thanksgiving.  We know that we can ask for anything in your name and you will give it to us.  Let us be VERY cautious in what we ask for.  Let us be SURE it is what you would want for us, not what we would selfishly want for ourselves.  Then we won't complain to you about everything that went wrong.  We won't have to.  Because you know the desires of our hearts before we even ask.  You alone know what is best for us.  But leet us pray for wisdome, insidght, understanding....discernment, so that having such will keep you from overwork and from being underpaid.  So that we can show others our Christian walk with certianity and not just talk about being one.  So that we can gather with other Chrisitans with your grace and mercy...and grant it to those not Christian.  To give them examples of who you are, that you are and how wonderful you are.  O, Lord, how great thou art!  Help us to love and hold you as dearly as you love and hold us.  Help us talk about and walk as examples of you on earth.

And the people said,

"Amen".
